The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Apr 28, 2016, sent to the company May 6, 2016, published by CPSC May 20, 2016

The product, in the report: Calphalon Glass Lid for 12 inch diameter metal pan.

I was cooking with a Calphalon 12 inch diameter pan with glass lid. After I turned off the heat of the stove, I removed the glass lid and it shattered into thousands of tiny pieces. See attached photo. This was very dangerous and could have injured someone (such as a small child or pet) if in the vicinity. Fortunately there were no injuries. I communicated with Calphalon and they said their glass lids are manufactured so that if they break, they break into small cubes; but this lid shattered into smaller slivers than that. Please see attached photos. I bought the pan and lid as a set at Marshall’s at 900 State St., Santa Barbara, CA. Unfortunately, I don’t have the Serial Number of the Lid that shattered. I do have the Serial Number of the pan that came with the lid. These are the numbers on the bottom of the pan: 8788 8 Qt., Serial No. 0514114, 12 inch diameter.
