Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No incident, no one hurt

Made Apr 5, 2026, sent to the company Apr 9, 2026, published by CPSC Apr 23, 2026

The product, in the report: Steamer. Just a note the photo that Ive uploaded is not as a second version the first one to screw completely popped off and bent, but I dont have a photo of that because this happened a few months ago so this is a picture of the second product I bought.

Ive owned two Oster steamers and had the same issue with both. The first one made a loud popping sound during use, and one of the screws holding the handle actually popped off. Not something you want happening when there’s boiling water inside. I bought a second one thinking the first was defective, but its starting to show the same signs. The screws holding the handle begin turning white when it’s on the stove, which seems like theyre overheating. That suggests a design flaw. The metal screws heat up too much, weaken the connection, and could cause the handle to detach.

This isnt just annoying. Its dangerous. A loose or failing handle on a steaming pot is a serious burn risk.

I won’t be purchasing this again and Id caution others to steer clear until Oster addresses this issue.

I was severely burned by the Oster XL 11 in 1, digital french door oven and air fryer. I was burned on both arms while using the oven. The Oster XL is one of the most dangerous appliances I have ever encountered. The glass doors heat up very quickly and if you touch it accidentally or if someone brushes by it when the doors are open and you are putting food inside — the doors will close quickly and will burn your arms. If someone walks by when the doors are open and there is any vibration or even a slight tap—the oven doors will close on your arms while you are putting something inside. If you don’t open the doors just right — they will close on your arms and burn you. There is no device to slow down the doors slamming shut on you. If you have one door that opens all the way and don’t secure the other door by making sure it is completely open -it will close on you and will burn you. If someone wants to watch something bake and accidentally reaches out to touch the glass door they will be seriously burned. The entire area around the oven is also extremely hot. I implore you to investigate.
