The product, in the report: It is the NuWave 3Q brio air fryer
My nuwave air fryer started smoking while the power was turned off. The heater was glowing bright orange & the interior was starting to melt. The control power was off & I had to unplug it to shut down the heating element. It would have caused a house fire had I not been home.

The product, in the report: NuWave Brio Air Fryer, model 37001,
We have a NuWave Brio Air Fryer that was being used normally and I noticed when we stopped using it the power cord is now melted. I tried twice with email to the NuWave help line and they never responded and I included pictures as well. I tried calling 4 times there is no voice mail and the phone rings for more than 15 minutes before I just give up.

The product, in the report: NuWave Brio 6 Quart Air Fryer
Was using a NuWave Air Fryer Brio 6-Qt
My girlfriend pulled the basket out after our fries were done. The release “button” on the outer basket was somehow triggered and released the outer basket containing the hot oil. The oil sprayed on us and caused burns.
I get that warnings are important, but they are a weak safety control. In my opinion, these warnings are also too vague to put the user on notice about the basket separation hazard.
It is wayyyyy too easy to inadvertently release the baskets and the warning appears to be inadequate on user manual. We are both smart people and my girlfriend went to culinary school for 2 years and this was NOT AN OBVIOUS HAZARD.
The only warning I found in the manual was “use caution when shaking basket” and on page 8 warning #9 “extreme caution must be used when moving unit containing hot oil or other hot liquids”
There were no warnings about the inadvertent separation. There was no pictogram showing we could be splashed with hot oil.
If we had a cat or a kid nearby it would have scalded them badly. We were lucky we were adults who just got sprayed on our legs - it sucked a lot but aside from skin discoloration and the need to use ice packs we were fine a week later.
I was horrified. Here are some simple solutions: (1) how about a red release button so people are more conscious of the release potential (2) how about a lock or button cover to prevent the thumb from accidentally releasing (3) a specific warning would be useful about the need to not slip and hit the button and to keep the basket on a level surface.
I have emailed this to Costco and Customer Service. Hopefully this changes before someone else gets burned more badly.

No one hurt Made Mar 8, 2018, sent to the company Jun 22, 2018, published by CPSC Jul 9, 2018
The product, in the report: Air Fryer for use indoors. Small appliance.
The air dryer has a basket that fits into a base then goes into the air fryer for cooking. There is a button that controls the release of the basket from the hot base (so food can be added). Upon first use, the button became stuck so the basket would not clip onto the base. So I had to use oven mitts to remove the base (and basket) from air fryer. Someone could really get burned if they believed the basket was attached to the base and it became lose during the process of removing both from the air fryer.
I contacted Nuwave and was told they would send a replacement but the basket would be the same. Or I could use a butter knife to make the button work.
I think using a butter knife (metal) in an electrical product is dangerous. I think there is a design flaw with the button. It is supposed to control a much larger metal clip and this clearly doesn’t work.
