No one hurt Made Apr 17, 2024, sent to the company May 20, 2024, published by CPSC Jun 4, 2024
The product, in the report: 40 lbs., Propane floor, deep fryer
The consumer started the fryer and noticed immediately that it was emitting propane fuel when the gas valve was in the off position. This presents a definite safety hazard.
The product should only emit fuel, when the valve is turned on, or when it is in the “pilot” positon. It should only emit from those 2 positions, but never while in the off position.
The consumer indicated that manufacturers’ fryers not are designed in this manner.
No one was injured, because once he became aware of the matter he discontinued use of it.
He contacted the manufacturer numerous times, pointing out this problem.
The consumer said he has about 10 pages of correspondence emails and he has a video that can be provided upon request.
In the end, the manufacturer offered a part that he would have to change himself. The consumer is not a technician and felt if he modified the product, it would void the warranty.
The manufacturer would not provide contact information for a local technician to do the repair, which confirms that they are aware of the potential hazard.
