The product, in the report: Instant Omni Plus air fryer
My Instant brand Omni plus air fryer has burned me several times due to the rack falling off of the side rails when the oven was hot. The rack is too narrow, or the side rails have stretched and widened to the point where the rack constantly drops down onto the heating elements.

The product, in the report: Instant Pot Vortex Plus 10 Quart Air Fryer 1500W Oven Model Vortex Plus 10 UPC 5756100864
Last night, our family was exposed to dangerous levels of hexathane chromium fumes from the heating element on our new Instant Pot Air Fryer. Our house filled with a metallic smell and taste almost instantly upon using it. The smell is obnoxious and made me and my 2 year old daughter cough a lot. I am nowhaving the worst symptoms of us with inflamed nasal passages and lungs, a racing heart and having a hard time breathing with a heavy feeling in my chest, amongst a few other symptoms like a cold feeling in my hands. My 2 year old daughter and pregnant wife were exposed as well but aren’t having this extreme of a reaction. We’ve been trying to ventilate the house but it still smells very strong. After looking online for answers, I found that these ovens are known for having these problems and exposing people to nickel chromium or hexathane chromium fumes from the heating element upon initial and subsequent use. This type of exposure to hexathane chromium is more common in industrial welding accidents and is a known health hazard in many types of industry. The appliance is a Instant Pot Vortex Plus Air Fryer Oven 10 quart. I purchased this from Walmart this last week and used it the first last night. I’m concerned for our health, especially my 2 year old daughter and my pregnant wife.

The product, in the report: Instant Pot Stainless steel instant pot with black lid 8 quart size Model Lux80
I was using my instant pot which have used many times over the last year and a half so I know how to use it correctly. I had filled it with some meat and turned on the saute function. Within a few seconds I saw some what I thought was steam rising. But quickly realized it was smoke and smelled awful. My meat was not even sizzling so I lifted up the instant pot and saw that the bottom portion of plastic had melted and was filling my house and lungs with toxic plastic fumes. It caused some damage to the surface that was on. I am just lucky that I was standing right there. I hate to think what might have happened if I had walked away. Instant pot has recalled some models for this very reason however clearly they have not resolved the problem as yet another model is having the same issue.

The product, in the report: Instant Vortex 6 Black SKU# 140-3001-01 Size: 420 X 377 X 377 Weight: 7.4 kg 1700 Watt 120 Volt
I’m reporting on an Instant Vortex 4-in-1 six quart air fryer, roast, bake, reheat kitchen appliance. I followed the instructions and ran it for 20 minutes at the recommended time and temperature before cooking in it. Then I made some air fried chicken and french fries. This appliance emits a very strong plastic smell. I had to open my windows and turn on my fan. The next day I reheated one of those pieces of chicken for for 10 minutes and my kitchen smelled like plastic again. I began getting a headache, and my food smelled like plastic. I looked on the box to see if it was BPA free plastic. On the side of the box at the very bottom in very small print, it says it is not BPA free and had a warning on the box that says:
“This product can expose you to chemicals including lead and BPA, which are known to the state of California to cause cancer, and birth defects or other reproductive harm.”
I do not think this appliance is safe to cook food and I think it should be recalled. I don’t want to sell it. I don’t want to return it. I don’t want to give it to [REDACTED]. I do not want anyone else to use it and get sick. I purchased it with reward points from a United Airlines gift catalog.

No one hurt Made Oct 16, 2019, sent to the company Nov 13, 2019, published by CPSC Nov 27, 2019
The product, in the report: Instant Vortex Plus 10 Quart Air fryer oven. Black and chrome.
I purchased an Instant Vortex Plus air fryer on 7/29/2019. We have been using the unit daily since purchased. On 10/7, after cooking dinner for the kids, we had thought the unit had powered off as normal. It had not. About an hour later I could smell something hot and investigated. The light of the air fryer was on, and the control panel, which normally says “OFF” was completely dark. Upon approaching the unit, it was evident that the heating element was still powered on, and the unit was in a thermal runaway state. The unit was too hot to approach, and I unplugged it with an oven mit. I believe the unit was not far from catching fire when unplugged.
After the unit cooled, I tested it by plugging it in. The internal light immediately turned on, and the heating element started heating. The computer interface was completely inoperative. It seems that the unit failed to the condition it was in when the control unit ceased function, causing a thermal runaway event. It is also evident that there is not mechanical thermal runaway protection on the unit.
