As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Tempered glass lid to straight sided frying pan

My husband was cooking dinner - a FABulous shrimp dish - when the glass pot lid EXPLODED! There were glass shards everywhere. We are fortunate that he was not injured. I would have thought that “tempered glass”, from which this item is supposedly made, would have broken into rounded pieces. As it was, these pea-sized pieces of glass were sharp and jagged. The lid handle dropped into the food and the glass cover scattered all over the stove top, cabinets, and floor. I will try to enclose a photo of the lid. This cookware, the Emeril line by All Clad, is made in China. Since there seems to be a breakage issue with [REDACTED] glass containers made in China now also, it may be that they are using something other than silica or are somehow cutting manufacturing corners with other inferior or inappropriate materials or processes.
