On January 7, 2020, while cooking salmon in our Cook’s Essential Air Fryer. The salmon was cooking for no longer that a minute or two when an electrical spark/flash was notice coming from the from where electric cord attaches to the rear/side of the Air Fryer. We immediately removed the power cord from the electrical receptacle and the pan containing our food. The Air Fryer started to smoke from the rear of the unit. No one hurt Made Jan 20, 2018, sent to the company Jan 29, 2018, published by CPSC Feb 20, 2018
The product, in the report: CooksEssentials 1500W Digital Air Fryer
On November 7, 2017, I was cooking some potatoes in my air fryer when I heard a pop and turned around and it was on fire. I tried unsuccessfully to put out the fire with my small kitchen fire extinguisher. I was not able to move very fast as I had surgery on my foot 3 weeks prior to this incident and was non-weight bearing on my left foot. I called 911 while trying to put out the fire and was advised to get out of the house, a laborious and slow task using a walker with a knee sling and going down steps. I lost my parrot and one of my cats in the fire but fortunately the firefighters saved my dog and my other cat. It was a QVC Cooks Essentials Air Fryer that caused my fire. My home was over 70% destroyed. I used it frequently during the six or seven weeks that I owned it and cleaned it every time I used it according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
