The product, in the report: Bear 2.1QT / 2L air fryer, 120V 60Hz 800W
On August 25, 2026, I was using a Bear air fryer, model QZG-S08C3, for normal home cooking at my residence in [REDACTED]. During normal use, the top housing of the air fryer melted through, exposing internal wiring including a red conductor. There was no open flame and no breaker trip. The unit draws approximately 6.7 amps on a 15-amp circuit, indicating the failure was internal to the appliance. I unplugged the unit immediately and moved it outdoors. No one was injured and no medical attention was needed. The unit has been retained intact - the cord has not been cut and the unit has not been disassembled. The rating plate carries no UL, ETL, CSA, or other safety certification mark for the appliance - the only symbol is an EU WEEE disposal mark - and no serial number, date code, or lot code. The molded plug is unmarked. A QR code sticker on the housing decodes to DRO241122039000910C, possibly containing a 2024-11-22 date code. A search of Intertek’s public ETL directory on August 25, 2026 found listings for Bear Electric Appliance Co., Ltd. covering rice cookers, tea makers, hot pots, and steam cookers, but no listing for this model or any Bear air fryer.
