First aid Made May 10, 2024, sent to the company May 16, 2024, published by CPSC Jun 7, 2024
The product, in the report: J.A. Henckels International Eversharp Pro Stainless Steel Knives Set. Wooden block that came with the knives has the number 35100-946 stamped on the bottom. It has six 4-1/2 inch steak knives; a carving fork; and five other carving/paring knives. This product was a gift set that I selected for federal employment time in service. The knives were made in Thailand.
I have a set of knives in a wooden block. It has tipped over several times when removing knives. When it tips over, the knives fall out. I stuck my foot twice just wearing socks; and several times wearing shoes. However, our little dogs had close calls several times. We now have a 10 lb. [REDACTED] mix who stays close as I prepare food.

Emergency room Made Feb 9, 2016, sent to the company Feb 18, 2016, published by CPSC Mar 10, 2016
The product, in the report: Sharp kitchen knives. item numbers are 16900-081 and 16901-201.
On January 2, 2016 I was opening 3 JA Henckels knives recently purchased at Target. The packaging was exceptionally difficult to open. Upon opening the second package, I found it had a black band around the handle that made it even more difficult to open (impossible to safely open). I was being careful but when I got the black band opened the force led my hand to slip across the blade. I received 7 stiches on my pinky finger, 5 on my middle finger, and had glue stiches on my index finger.
That day I submitted an online inquire on their website http://www.j-a-henckels.com/en-US requesting that the matter be reviewed for consideration of revised packaging design. I received no response. On January 13, I submitted an online inquiry through their website using their submission tool and received no response. A few days later I sent a letter by US mail requesting the matter be reviewed and again received no response.
I am requesting that this incident be reported and reviewed. The injury could have been much worse. I would like to ensure that the package design is reviewed to ensure no one else sustains an injury. The black band around the blade made the package impossible to open safely. Further, if it is important that the package be difficult to open for safety and theft reasons, then I believe that the knives should be double encased so that upon opening the difficult packaging the knives are encased in packaging that is then easy to be opened. It is very unsafe.

No one hurt Made Dec 9, 2014, sent to the company Dec 17, 2014, published by CPSC Jan 5, 2015
The product, in the report: A knife from the J.A. Henckels International knife block set, purchased in 2007 from Target.
We bought this J.A. Henckels International knife set in 2007 from Target. Tonight my husband was cutting meat when a chunk broke out of one of the knives. It was a dangerous situation, as fragments of steel could have ended up in the meat. I do have photos I can send if you wish. There were no prior cracks in the metal. We would like to alert you to this danger so that you can warn consumers.
