The product, in the report: I have the series listed as recall on your website, the entire set. When I called regarding the 8” no one ever indicated the series was recalled. Actually I sent photos and documentation as requested and they just stopped communicating with me,
I have the knives listed recall. Was not aware off the recall but had a knife of this set that broke, no one ever mentioned this series as recall. I have contacted Calphalon numerous times with documentation on the one knife only to find the entire set is faulty. They reached out to me once and stopped communication. This process started over a month ago.

The product, in the report: Calphalon 3.5” paring knife Model 0865014
Calphalon paring knife broke while slicing semi-soft cheese. The metal blade broke where it meets the handle. I am reporting this because this is the 3rd knife from my Calphalon Comtemporary 17 piece knife block which has broken in this manner. The other 2 knives have been replaced per Calphalon’s warranty. I have reported this 3rd broken knife to Calphalon. The knives are all hand washed after each use, are not soaked in water and no chemicals are used on them. I feel these knives are unsafe and pose a danger to consumers.

No one hurt Made Apr 28, 2019, sent to the company May 7, 2019, published by CPSC May 28, 2019
The product, in the report: 17 piece Calphalon knife set given to me at bridal shower which was June 2016. Was purchased from Macy’s in Rhode island.
My husband was using the chef knife from our Calphalon knife set that we received in June of 2015 as a wedding gift and as using to slice a calzone the blade dismantled from the handle completely and flew backwards. I have never seen this happen with any knife I’ve used in the past. While looking into this knife set it looks as if there was a recall I was not aware of in 2017. I’m nervous to use any of the other larger knives in this set after seeing no sign this would happen with this one.

No one hurt Made Jan 7, 2018, sent to the company Apr 9, 2018, published by CPSC Apr 23, 2018
The product, in the report: Calphalon 4-1/2 in Parer knife.
On December 20, 2017, I was using a 4-1/2 inch Parer knife made from Calphalon to cut pears. The knife broke at the handle and just missed cutting my fingers. This was part of a set that was given to me as a gift about one year ago. I had contacted Calphalon back in March to possibly replace this set of knives based on recalls that the company stated had this exact problem. I sent the knives back, only to have them returned to me with a message saying they were not affected by the recall. When I once again contacted the company on December 20, after this incident happened, I sent them photos of what the knife looked like after it broke and explained that if one of their knives can break like this when slicing something as soft as pears, it should be on the recall list. I never heard back from them. I tried two more times to contact them to try to rectify the situation, in hopes of getting the knife replaced and for the company to investigate whether this knife is a safety concern. Again, I never heard back from them. In my last email to them (December 29, 2017) I explained that I would be contacting you. It also should be noted that Calphalon has stated on their web site that no matter how their knives are used, they should not break at the handle. The model number on this knife is 0862516. I can send you the pictures I sent Calphalon if you would like them. It is my hope that this product can be investigated as a potential safety hazard.

The product, in the report: Block knife set approximately 9”x14” 8” chef knife 8” slicer 7” santoku 8” bread 4 1/2 “ parer 6” utility scissors and 8 steak knives
During the use of the calphalon knife the tip of the 4 1/2” parer knife broke. These knives were expensive and not worth the money. I have been very disappointed in them. Not sharp at some parts of the blades and then sharp at other parts causing me to cut my fingers several times.

The product, in the report: 8” Chef’s Knife. Caphalon brand
I know that the Caphalon knives have already been recalled but I thought I should report my incident before I returned the knife. I did not know this was something that should have been reported when it happened. I was using an 8” Chef’s Knife to cut vegetables when the tip broke off. There were no injuries.

I was slicing fruit/veggies with the paring knife when the metal blade snapped in half and fell to the floor, nearly stabbing me in the foot. It was so surprising because it was a clean break and was not expected at all.
