    A candle we purchased at Kohls exploded on the vanity in our bathroom. The candle is Sonoma Goods For Life® I Love Fall Scarf 13-oz 3-Wick Candle. The candle was lit on the vanity and my husband was in the shower. He heard a pop and got out of the show to find the candle glass all over the vanity and floor. The wax had melted on the vanity and made bubbles on the counter. It left a burn spot on the vanity.

    SONOMA GOODS FOR LIFE 3-Wick Candle Sugar & Spice was lit and flames began to spark and throw burning embers up to 1 foot away from the candle. This caused a table cloth and dining room wooden buffet table to catch fire and resulted in permanent damage to the furniture. This happened within minutes of me lighting the candle. Because of the flame I used my hand to put the flame out resulting in minor burns. Had I not been in the room my entire house could have burned down.

    The product, in the report: Kohls Sonoma 3 wick candle. It said BE COZY on it and had the Falling Leaves scent.

    The Sonoma candle glass cracked and burst into flames randomly (luckily while I was in the room or it would’ve burned the whole apartment down most likely). It melted the bottom of the glass and caused $300 in damage to our apartment counter tops.

    The product, in the report: Balsam Fir scented candle

    1/22/2014 -The consumer stated that she lit the candle and left it on top of a kitchen counter for a total of 45 minutes. The consumer left the kitchen area, and returned after 20 minutes. When she entered the kitchen, she noticed that the glass container of the candle had shattered and the pieces were scattered about 16 inches away from the candle. She also noticed that the wick and the wax of the candle were still on fire. The consumer states that she tried to extinguish the fire using water, but when the water came into contact with the wax of the candle “flames were shooting out “ of the candle and creating exploding sounds. She then tried to extinguish the fire by covering the candle with a metal cooking pot. After 5 minutes she lifted the pot and the fire was extinguished. The consumer noticed that the wax melted and adhered to the kitchen counter. There were no injuries.

    1/23/14- The consumer stated that she plans to contact the retailer at a later time. The consumer contacted the CPSC and expressed that she thinks this product poses a safety hazard.

    The candle is not affected by a recall.
