The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Jun 7, 2011, published by CPSC Jun 28, 2011

The product, in the report: “100 Tea Lights Value Pack” (comes in a clear plastic bag). The “purchase date” function on your website (below) does not appear to be working. Estimated purchase date was April, 2011.

I have purchased the same tea lights from the Bed Bath & Beyond store in Seattle ([REDACTED]) for almost four years. However, in the past six months the tea lights are different: they have an odd, sweet/nauseous smell (even the “unscented” ones), and the “wax” looks different. The main safety issue is that they do not burn properly. The flame does not melt all the “wax,” if you can even actually call this substance a safe form of wax. The flame dies down just enough so you can’t tell that it’s still lit, even with very little light in the room. Several times someone put their hand near or tried to pick up a hot (still burning) one, and almost burned themselves, because the tea light did not look like it was still lit. The flame just gets very small and dim--but it’s still burning! Please examine these tea lights closely. Someone should test what’s being put in the “wax.” And please take them off the market before someone gets hurt. Thank you.
