I purchased a mainstay scented candle from Walmart. The candle looked perfectly fine when I lit it, but after I noticed an hour into it being burn, the glass had broke and fell into the candle. Then the wax paper around the outside of it was wilted and almost started a fire.

The product, in the report: I purchased a Walmart candle and was burning it strictly according to the provided instructions. The candle was lit for approximately 45 minutes, was about half full, and was placed on a stable, appropriate surface. Without any warning, the candle exploded, violently sending hot wax splattering across the room. As a result, my ceiling was damaged, and I sustained small burns from the hot wax on my face. This incident was extremely dangerous and could have resulted in serious injury, a fire, or much worse, especially if children or pets had been present. I followed all safety instructions and did nothing unusual or improper. This appears to be a product defect or serious safety failure, and I am very concerned about the risk this product poses to other customers. I am requesting: Documentation of this incident A refund or replacement Review and investigation of this product for safety issues Please advise on the next steps and how Walmart intends to address this serious safety concern involving injury and property damage. Mainstays candle in a glass container purchased from Walmart, glass cracked and broke during early burn around one side the heat of the candle is now collapsing the glass around the entire candle!!! This is a life safety and fire hazard!!! We noted this immediately and hav been watching our candle. We don’t burn candles out of sight! The glass is way to thin and not tempered for heat’ I saw that [REDACTED] has a recall for the same items. Walmart is selling the same unsafe junk candles under the Brand name Mainstays! And yet we are paying a higher price than ever!!! I have photos!

My wife went to light a candle we had just recently bought a week ago and the candle wick pops and blew up in her face, she has no known injuries at this time. She said she felt the hot wick pop up and hit her face, a piece of it. She was using a candle lighter to light the candle, which we never had problems before. this is a 14 oz candle.

We had a lit Walmart Mainstays Warm Fall Leaves scented candle in a glass jar going on a wood surface in our home. It had been burning for several hours. We noticed flames and smoke coming out of the sides of the candle. The sides had melted and the wax was spilling out onto the surface on which it was sitting. We blew out the candle and threw it away but did take photos.

I had a brand new never-lit Walmart MAINTSTAYS 20oz Sweet Apple candle burning on a plastic folding utility table. It wasn’t seen what happend, but I heard a loud crack - much like a nearby lightning strike but duller, then a loud “whoosh” sound, similiar to the sound you’d hear after throwing gasoling on a pile of wood then lighting it. The only items nearby was a small plastic [REDACTED] accessory box and a bottle of Glucose tables. The candle was gone, the plastic table had a hole through it and burning as well as the Glucose tables and accessori kit. Drippimgs through the hole also set the carpeting below on fire. It was quickly put out with simply water, but after the fire was out, nothing of the candle remained. I could find no glass fragments, nor any remaining candle wax. The candle was new, and had been burning only for about 4 hrs when this happened. I do have pictures of the damage that can be forwarded.

I got a mainstay 3 wick candle from walmart in alliance ohio called anything is paww-sible. It’s a 14oz candle. It burned too close to the edge and melted the plastic on the outside. Scorched the glass. It did burn my hand when I moved it but not badly. I do have pictures and still have the candle.

This consumer is reporting an incident with a candle that she purchased from a retail store sometime around September 12th, 2018.
On September 24th, 2018 she and her husband were sitting in their family room and had been burning the mulled cider scent candle in the middle of a long counter in their kitchen.
Nothing was around the candle, the counter was empty with the exception of this candle. The candle is a wax based candle and it had been burning for approximately one and one half hours when her husband got up to go to the kitchen for a drink and saw the flames from the candle burning at approximately 18 inches high.
He immediately pushed the jar to move it but it was too hot for human touch. He kept blowing on the fire at the candle level until it did extinguish. He and the caller let it sit on the counter until it cooled off then they moved it outside to the patio.
On September 25th, 2018 the caller wanted to just check whether the candle would burn slowly, however after around an hour it did not flame up the way it had on September 24th but it did become so hot that it blew out the side of the glass jar it was contained in blowing the piece of glass approximately 12 inches outward.
There are no injuries being reported.
The consumers contacted the retailer because this is their brand and the retailers corporate offices continuously re-route to the nearest store to their caller
In addition: * The consumer contacted the manger & assistant manager in person at the store where she purchased the candle. (7421 West Thunderbird Rd., Peoria, AZ 85381 602.627.9848) She was told an email notification would be sent to all stores & added to their “database.”
* There are numerous YouTube videos online depicting & describing nearly identical experiences with 2 Walmart, Mainstay, jar candles.

The consumer informed the Asst Mngr that the glass tea light candle holder exploded with the candle inside; causing hot wax to fly from it.
