The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Candle in a tin, 14.4 oz, Black Pepper Coconut

I had a candle burning in the tin it came in. It was on a wood veneer dresser, and I was working at my desk nearby. Our fire alarm went off, and the entire candle tin was on fire, with the flame reaching about 3-4 inches above the top of the tin. Fortunately I was able to grab some oven mitts and run water into the candle to put the fire out. It burned a circle into the dresser it was on (which was still smoking when I cleaned it) but it seems the outcome could have been much worse. The candle was Hearth and Hand with Magnolia, Black Pepper Coconut. It is made and distributed only by Target. I originally reached out to Magnolia and then Target for them to consider a recall, but Target’s representative hasn’t been particularly responsive
