Seen by a doctor or nurse Made May 2, 2017, sent to the company Jun 2, 2017, published by CPSC Jun 23, 2017
The product, in the report: glass jar candle with a glass lid
(04/13/2015) The consumer stated that she went into the Family Dollar store in Colorado. While in the store she walked over to the candle display. The consumer picked up the Black Cherry Cobbler candle with her right hand. The consumer placed her left hand on the lid so that she could rotate the candle to read the label. When she rotated the candle jar, the dome part of the lid blew apart and severed her thumb and her palm.
(04/13/2015) The consumer went to First Choice ER across the parking lot from the store. The consumer was transferred to Lutheran Medical ER. The injury was so severe that the consumer had to obtain a surgeon to repair her hand. Since that time the consumer has had to have two reconstructive surgeries on her left hand. The consumer does not have full use of her left hand and thumb. The consumer stated that it was inferred to her attorney that this particular scent was not included in a recall.

Emergency room Made Feb 5, 2017, sent to the company Feb 21, 2017, published by CPSC Mar 7, 2017
The product, in the report: It was a everyday home candle. Red in color. 18 oz.
I was working in family dollar. I was doing my nightly duties of fronting and facing the items in the store. When I cam to the candle display the candles needed put back in order. When I grabbed one to move it the whole top came apart from the rest of the candle which resulted in a few lacerations on my hand. Workman’s compensation paid the hospital bill but my absence without pay resulted in me being fired later down the road.
