  1. No one hurt

Made Apr 23, 2012, sent to the company Jun 7, 2012, published by CPSC Jun 28, 2012

The product, in the report: free standing stand, with 3 glass globes, with black metal stems and black flowers. (To be used with tea light candles only) 9” -1/4” W x 4” (base) x 14” H (each glass globe is staggered in height (no model number, RN# 42000)

The consumer owns one of these products and she gave one to her friend.

(2011) The consumer burned 3 tea light candles (1 in each holder) for about 5 to 10 minutes. The consumer discovered burn marks on the glass of the candle holders and she blew out the candles. The consumer discontinued use of her product after that one incident.

The consumer mentioned her friend, but the friend did not comment about the matter.

(date unknown) The consumer stopped by her friend’s home and discovered that her friends tea light candle set was damaged on her dining table. The consumer’s friend and the friends family were eating a meal at the time of the incident. The friend told her that the candles had been lit for 15 min. at the time of the incident. The consumer noticed that the center glass (out of the 3) was missing and appears to have melted. The friend told her that glass flew on the table and in their plates of food, but there was no injury. The center glass globe half shattered, and was melted by heat from candle. What’s left of the globe is still attached to stand. Only tea light candles were used.

The consumer wants to pick up her friend’s product and return both items to the retailer, but she plans to contact them first.

NOTE: There are 2 separate incidents. One with the consumer and one with her friend. No injuries in either case.
