I was using this candle on a fire place mantel. I had used candles there before with no issues. This particular candle shot high flames and blew up. The roof caught on fire instantly and went ablaze. I screamed for my children who had gone to bed. The house was ablaze and full of smoke in seconds. I screamed as the flames and smoke filled the house fast. I wanted to get all my children and get out of the house but was unable. I grabbed my youngest child who had been asleep on the couch and took him out the front door. I tried running back in to get the next child but was pushed back by the flames and heat bursting through the front door. I could hear my oldest screaming momma. I pulled her out through her window. She was covered black. I ran to my oldest sons window. I got it open and screamed for him. He never replied. The flames and heat was bursting from his window also. The fire station is less than a quarter of a mile away I went for help. They came quickly. I was severely burned and rushed by helicopter to a burn hospital and put in an induced coma. Three days later I awoke unable to talk and tubes in my throat to help me breathe I tried asking where my son was. I knew he couldn’t of survived but I didn’t want to believe he didn’t make it. My son died , my heart broken forever. My precious 9 year old son died in that house fire that started from that candle. We lost everything which is nothing compared to a life, a precious innocent child. We are all traumatized by this. My youngest child at the time that I was able to get out of the house has ptsd from that horrible night the candle exploded. I am disfigured. My arms , face and feet are severely damaged. None of my pain or disabilities compare to the loss of my son. I wish they would ban all candles. Hobby Lobby certainly should be banned from making candles. I want answers for why that candle blew up.
