The product, in the report: coscentrix candle sold by hobby lobby in April 2015

I bought a coscentrix candle at the hobby lobby in Oxnard and it burned through itself and ruined my countertop. The counter has an area that is completely burned and is bubbling up. Had this candle been on a wooden surface (which the rest of my home is) it would have started a fire. The candle itself was completely blackened and covered in ash. When we found it on the table we were horrified. To think that the candle could have burned our place down was terrifying. I am also appalled that hobby lobby was selling the candle to me in April 2015 when the recall happened close to a year ago. It was not a fluke either, there were several of these candles on display for sale at a discounted price. I am furious and concerned for the safety of others.

The product, in the report: 13oz coffee tin candle, kona coffee scent. SKU 575019

13 oz coffee tin kona coffee dented candle SKU #575019 from hobby lobby.

Evening of Dec13, 2014 lit candle as I have many times before. From another room I can smell the scent very strong, which seemed off to me. Walked into the room to find a blazing fireball, my first thought was that the house was burning down. Flames came up at least 6 inches above the tin. some items around the tin were damaged but I was luckily able to put out the flame. I quickly grabbed the tin, thinking I could throw it in the bathtub. I dropped the flaming candle on the floor but immediately picked it up with the adrenaline flowing I did not feel the heat at this point, took it to the bathroom and dousted it in the tub. Quickly ran back to the bedroom to see if the floors/walls/ect were on fire. They were not, but I had wax everywhere, damaging my hardwood floor, bedding, and clothes...fire damage was limited to some nearby items but nothing else ignited.
