The product, in the report: Fresh Lilac (scent) Natural Soy Wax & Essential Oils Designed for Clean Living* Glass Jar Presentation Candles.
I purchased some candles at Target, the product name is the Fresh Lilac / Pure, Clean, Soy /Natural Soy Wax & Essential Oils Designed for CLEAN LIVING. I purchased a couple of them in the glass jar (10 0z.) presentation and a couple of them in the metal tin presentation (14.1 oz.). I really like these candles since I have bought them before in the metal tins. The smell is wonderful. So after I started using them at home, after about 35-40 minutes lit, one of the glass jars exploded and smeared hot wax all over my bathroom! Glass pieces flew all over and the wax was very hard to remove from all the surfaces that were smeared. Luckily no one was in it the bathroom when the candle exploded at the time! While I thought that it might have been my fault for the candle exploding, like maybe I sat it in a place where there was a breeze or maybe I sat it over a wet surface, not sure what to make of it. I still had 2 more glass candles, so I lit up another one days later and placed it on my bedroom night stand. It was lit fine until I noticed, that after about 30 minutes burning, the jar was getting “deformed”, like “melting” and was extremely hot to the touch!. I got scared, cause it looked like it had this big bump on one side in the glass!!! I thought it was about to explode too, so I blew it off and let it cool off for good. I never lighted up my jar glass candles again, only my metal tins, which I never had a problem with and they still burn fine!!
I do believe there is something wrong with the glass they are using for these candles. It is either not tempered or they are just defective. I am a candle person and have been buying candles for years! Different brands, and never had an incident in which a candle would explode due to the glass getting too hot! I always use my “[REDACTEd] Candles” until they are gone!! I would burn them constantly until there is no more wax left in the jars and never had a problem like this ever.
