The product, in the report: CANDLE-LITE limited edition Snow Drift Spruce candle
A couple citizens that bought candles at Fred Myers stopped by the fire station. They had purchased and used CANDLE-LITE candles. Apparently, they let the candle burn down to the base and the container blew up and left a scorch mark on the surface it was sitting in.

Seen by a doctor or nurse Made Oct 30, 2014, sent to the company Nov 10, 2014, published by CPSC Nov 28, 2014
The product, in the report: Candle-Lite brand scented wax candle in glass “container”.
On or about 7 January 2013, I was injured by the “explosion”/breakage/failure of a “Candle-Light” brand scented candle (manufactured by Lancaster Colony) that I purchased at Wal-Mart. As I do on occasion, I lit the candle, which was in its glass “container.” I placed the candle/container on the back of a ceramic toilet in my bathroom, sat in the bath for about 15 minutes, during which time about 1-1 ½ inches deep of liquid wax had accumulated at the top of the candle as a result of the burning of the candle. I picked up the candle/container from bottom (it was not hot on the bottom because not burned down very far), took about three steps toward my adjacent bedroom, when the glass container appeared to “explode” in my hand, sending hot wax and glass all over both my hands and my bathroom. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED EXPERT REPORT FOR FURTHER DETAILS.
I suffered severe burn injuries. Blisters formed at the burned areas and my hands were extremely painful where they were burned. I then sought medical treatment and had to see numerous doctors in order to treat my injuries. I have been advised that I have suffered and sustained permanent scarring to my hand(s) and that there is no effective procedure to correct or improve the appearance. The accident and stress has further adversely affected my kidney health, function and has required additional treatment, both by a Rheumatologist and a mental health professional.

No one hurt Made Jan 23, 2012, sent to the company Jan 30, 2012, published by CPSC Feb 13, 2012
The product, in the report: This is a candle in a jar, commonly sold in grocery and department stores. It has a fitted glass lid as well
A “candle-lite” candle in a jar exploded while burning on my kitchen counter. It had been burning for less than one hour, but was near the end of the candle. In the explosion, large pieces of glass flew out from the bottom of the jar and the heat was intense enough to discolour and cause the kitchen counter top to blister.

No one hurt Made Dec 15, 2011, sent to the company Dec 22, 2011, published by CPSC Jan 9, 2012
The product, in the report: “Candle-Lite” brand tea lights. Metal cup.
A “Candle-Lite” tea light placed in a lidded holder. This candle has a metal cup. The candle became a pool of flame, spewing black smoke. The holder became too hot to move. The flame flared up 12 inches when blown on and I finally extinguished it with water, causing a huge flare-up that almost caused a house fire.
When I examined it, I saw that the metal wick holder had a large pool of glue around it, which was the cause of the toxic smoke. THESE CANDLES HAVE WICKS THAT ARE GLUED IN PLACE WITH FLAMMABLE AND TOXIC GLUE.
