The product, in the report: Pyrex 8x13.2 and Pyrex 8x8
Two glass Pyrex pans have exploded in my home in the past 7 months. One was 13.2x8 inch, the other was 8x8 inch. One exploded after being moved from the oven onto a clean, dry, unheated stovetop - glass went all over the house, and my roommate had several small cuts on her hands.
The second exploded after being moved from the oven to a sink with a small amount of water in it - this one is less shocking. The glass from the pan shattering went into the garbage disposal, and my wife sustained cuts on her hands removing the glass from the sink and disposal.

The product, in the report: 9 x 13 Pyrex baking dish
I was putting the dish into a drawer. It did not bump or hit anything. It was room temperature.there were no obvious cracks in it. It exploded into hundreds if fragments, some smaller than sand, flying over a radius of over 4 feet. I don’t know exactly how old the pan was, but it was not a new pan.

The product, in the report: Small Pyrex food container
I was making egg salad for sandwiches in a pyrex container. I was scooping out the last spoonful of salad and the container exploded in my hands. The container was not hot nor cold, it was taken out of the cupboard and was room temperature. I had been mixing the egg salad for about 10 minutes and noticed nothing unusual about the container itself. The glass went everywhere in my kitchen as well as into my hands, arms and feet. I have never had this happen before and was quite amazed that something like this could happen.

The product, in the report: Pyrex glass baking dish, 13x9
I was baking chicken in a 13x9 glass Pyrex baking dish at 350 degrees when it suddenly shattered into a million pieces, sending glass everywhere inside my oven. After researching this type of reaction, I’ve concluded that this product and other glass baking products made of the newer, less trustworthy material needs to be severely reevaluated and taken off the market. It is clearly unsafe and an extreme safety hazard to all.

The product, in the report: Pyrex Bakeware 4.8 Quart Oblong Baking Dish, Clear
I am 8 months pregnant. I had made a brown buttered acorn squash using a Pyrex casserole dish. I had the oven set on 400. After 15-20 minutes I took out the casserole dish and set it on the counter where it immediately exploded throwing shards of glass all over my kitchen. Fortunately, being 5 inches away when I had set it down I was uninjured.
I had looked it up and reportedly, over a thousand people had reported the same thing on consumeraffairs.com. One person even mentioning losing the tip of their thumb. What if a child had been in the room?

This isn’t uncommon since 1998 when Pyrex turned to soda-lime-silica glass. I am shocked that this has not been taken off the market since it has happened to myself three times (I cook quite often), my mother once, my boyfriend once, and my cousin once.
This is even on the news. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/magazine-archive/2011/january/home-garden/glass-cookware/shattering-bakeware-affects-coworkers/index.htm
I have been contacted by Pyrex but I do not want a replacement of a defective product that may injure a member of my family. I want the product off the market and for people to be aware of the danger.

The product, in the report: Pyrex Baking Pan
Today I was cooking game hens in the oven. I had placed them in a glass pyrex pan. They were baking for about 45 minutes, when I opened the oven to add some basting sauce (consisting of white wine, olive oil, and garlic). I was putting in a small amount (no more than 1/4 cup) of this liquid that was at room temperature directly on the game hens. I slid out the oven door with the bakepan on it before adding the liquid. The glass bakeware exploded violently, as soon as I started basting my hens. I mean violently. Glass shards flew several yards -- all around the kitchen. Luckily no one was hurt. (In fact, it is a miracle.)

No one hurt Made Feb 23, 2012, sent to the company Mar 2, 2012, published by CPSC Mar 23, 2012
The product, in the report: Corning-ware/Pyrex baking dish
baking dish exploded when oven door was opened.
I am writing to report a incident that occurred tonight in our home that involved a Pyrex baking dish that my wife was using to prepare baked squash.
The baking dish which we have had and used for many years without incident exploded when my wife opened the oven door to remove the squash after about 40 minutes of baking at 375 degrees F.
The oven had been pre-heated prior to placing the baking dish in.
I have worked for over 35 years in a clinical chemistry lab, and have used Pyrex glassware for many of those years and have not seen anything like this. About 1/3 of the dish exploded when the oven door was opened. Luckily this happened before my wife was able to grab the dish to remove it, or it could have injured her.
I subscribe to Consumer Reports and remembered an article that I had read in the January 2011 issue regarding bakeware that shatters, in which consumers were urged to contact the CPSC if this problem was experienced.
This communication is being sent to document this occurrence.

The product, in the report: 8X8 glass baking dish
While baking brownies in the oven at 350 degrees for 25 minutes when she slowly opened the oven the glass baking dish exploded into small pieces.
Prior to placing the contents in the dish to bake they were mostly at room temperature. This was the first time using the baking dish.
She has since contacted the manufacturer. There were no injuries reported.
