The product, in the report: You can find the product description in detail on the manufacturer website at: https://tovolo.com/product/truebake-baking-mats/ I purchased six of the Tovolo TrueBake 20” x 14” 3/4-Sheet Baking Mat Oyster Gray 13022-201
I purchased 6 of the Tovolo TrueBake silicone baking mats in 2021. You can see the product on the Tovolo website at https://tovolo.com/product/truebake-baking-mats/. After using the mats for their intended purpose (providing a buffer between baking pans and the food being baked) fewer than 10 times, all of the mats began to fray along the edges. (And, no, I did not cut the mats or otherwise mishandle them). It’s my understanding that these kinds of mats are made by encasing fiberglass strands in silicone; if that’s true, then the fiberglass strands pose a hazard when the edges of the mats fray because the strands can get in the food and can also cause an allergic reaction when they come in contact with skin. I emailed Tovolo customer service to report the issue on Feb 4th. It is now March 8th and I still haven’t heard back. The mats pose a serious safety hazard as the edges are not sealed to prevent the fiberglass from fraying.
