The product, in the report: T-fal C836SC. The lid for the large pot is what shattered. I suspect poor quality to be the cause.
The glass lid on a pot exploded while heating water. The water had just begun to boil with chicken breasts inside.
I ordered the pots in April of 2012 from Amazon. The pot was part of a set: T-fal C836SC

The product, in the report: Glass lid on my T-Fal Pot. I have pictures, you site won’t let me up-load them
The glass lid on my wife’s pan shattered while she was cooking rice. She was in the living room when she heard a loud pop. She went to investigate and found the lid totally spider webbed into small pieces like safety glass breaks. I have pictures of the lid before I discarded it.

No one hurt Made Aug 19, 2013, sent to the company Aug 27, 2013, published by CPSC Sep 11, 2013
The product, in the report: T-fal 8” saucepan lid--red in color
I purchased a set of T-fal pans with glass lids for a vacation home approximately six months ago. I might have used the pan in question a total of three times, so they were relatively new. The glass covers were stored in a bottom cabinet. Stacked to the left of the lids, there was a round cake pan, a loaf pan, and on top of the pile a plastic bowl. Somehow, the plastic bowl--and only the plastic bowl--toppled over and fell onto one of the lids (from a height of less then 12 inches) shattering it into a million pieces. Needless-to-say, I was stunned that a plastic bowl falling over from less then a foot could do such damage.
I cannot help but believe that the lid was defective, and now I’m leery of using the rest of the set. If I had actually dropped the lid on the floor or on my foot, for instance, I would have been cut to shreds as there were so many shards of glass in my cabinet that it took me 1 1/2 hours to clean everything up.
I wrote to T-fal to let them know what happened, but they insisted it was my fault. The bowl, by the way, only weighs 6.24 ounces. I told them that I wasn’t looking for a free replacement of the cover, I just wanted to know if I could have that one repaired, or where I could purchase a new one. I was told there was nothing they could do since it was my fault, and that they didn’t sell replacement covers.
I feel that the covers of the T-fal pans are a huge safety concern. They obviously are not using break-resistant glass, which they should be considering that the pans are used on a daily basis to prepare food.
