The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: SnapWare glass Pyrex storage dish model 8602. Approximately 4 3/4 inches by 6 3/4 inches and 1 3/4 inches tall.

I used a SnapWare Pure Pyrex storage container normally and found that it shed glass shards. On inspection, I found that four of the 18 glass containers I own had shed glass. These shards are dangerous because they can land in food and be eaten or land on floor and puncture the skin. My wife believes that a glass shard that ended up in the sole of her foot recently likely came from one of these containers. She sometimes walks in the kitchen barefoot. We know of no recent glass breakage other than these containers. If a shard were ingested, I believe the damage could be life-threatening. I am writing because I am concerned about public safety.

The product, in the report: 7x7” glass container. here is what the bottom of the container says: GLASSLOCK KOREA RP-711NOT FOR USE IN OVEN 7. We use it to store and microwave. At the time it had meat sauce in it. PURCHASED IN COSTCO, BUFORD, GEORGIA

I use SnapWare Glasslock to store meat sauce I made on Monday, March 12, 2018, in my refrigerator. Today Tuesday, March 13, 2018, my husband opened the container and poured some on spaghetti in a small bowl. While he was eating something sharp, painful and bloody was stuck to the side of his tongue. He managed to find it and get it out after a couple of minutes. We went to an Urgent Care. The doctor gave my husband a prescription for antibacterial mouth wash and an oral antibiotic.

  3. No one hurt

Made May 18, 2017, sent to the company Jul 17, 2017, published by CPSC Aug 7, 2017

The product, in the report: Reusable kitchen food containers

Today at lunch, I noticed sharp broken glass shards from BOTH of the Snapware containers I used IN MY FOOD.

The glass shards broke off the outside edge of the container, stuck to the plastic top, but then fell off the plastic top into my food. I found one glass shard before I ate any food from one container. Then, I found the second glass shard from the other container IN MY MOUTH. Looking at the containers, it appears that the glass edge is extremely thin and breaks merely from using the plastic closure included with the product.

I am now concerned I ingested glass shards without my knowledge. I hope the company considers whether to pull the product from the shelf or a recall. One faulty container I would understand, but I had pieces of glass from both containers!

The product, in the report: Snapware Total Solution 18-pc Glass Food Storage Set

Purchased Snapware Total Solution 18-pc Glass Food Storage Set from Costco in 2016. First noticed a chip off of edge/lip of container and noticed shard of glass in container. Threw it out as a fluke as Pyrex should never chip! This has now happened 4-5 times with this set where glass chips/shards are breaking off, sometimes staying in lid. Often times you don’t find it until you are eating food. Upon researching other reviews, there appear to be similar reports on Amazon.com. Thankfully I have not consumed a piece of glass yet and am throwing out the set and attempting to return to Costco.

The product, in the report: Snapware Glasslock 18 piece Set

Stored food in Snapware Glasslock containers purchased from Costco. Transferred food (cooked beans) to a bowl, reheated in microwave, and began eating when I discovered a 2 cm glass shard in my mouth.

Read similar reports (from Amazon.com reviews) of glass shards being shed from these Snapware Glasslock containers. Luckily, I didn’t suffer any ill effects. I plan on returning the set (18 pieces - 9 lids, 9 glass containers) to Costco and at the very least making them aware of the dangers of this product.

The product, in the report: Snapware Glasslock...glass storage containers with plastic lids with rubber seals

Not sure how long we have had the snapware glasslock, but we finally decided they were just too dangerous to keep in the house. We would notice shards of glass in the containers so we threw any away that had parts from them. Then we washed the remaining ones. Just this week my husband bit into some food and had a long shard of glass in it. I had done the same previously. We just decided they had to go. Something is not right when the glass keep breaking off and ending up in the food.
