I bought it at walmart. I washed it and put sliced aubergines into it and added water. I put the temp in the oven at 400F. I had several other dishes in the oven. After about 30min I took another dish out and checked if the potatoes were done. they were not so I put them back. aber 5-10min later I heard a loud bang. I checked and the glass lid of the item below (->1) was totally scattered/exploded. If this would have happened when I opened the door of the oven I could have been severly hurt.

The product, in the report: CorningWare Etch casserole dish - glass lid

I have a set of CorningWare Etch casserole dishes, purchased in Tempe, AZ Feb 1, 2012.

On January 23, 2017 I took a casserole dish from the cupboard, placed chicken thighs in the dish, covered it with the lid and placed it in the oven at 300F. About 5 minutes later I heard the sound of glass breaking. Since there was no one in the kitchen at the time, both my husband and I were confused by this.

Upon investigation, we discovered the lid of the casserole dish had exploded in the oven. Fortunately, the mess was confined to the oven, and the drawer below. We were able to clean up the mess and dispose of everything once the oven had cooled.

The potential for this to cause serious injury has made me reluctant to use the remaining pieces of this set.

The product, in the report: 2.5 qt., Green, CorningWare Etch Casserole Dish with Glass Lid.

The CorningWare Etch casserole lid spontaneously exploded while cooking a chicken rice casserole in a 350 degree oven about 45 minutes into its baking time. We heard what sounded like a big drip hitting the oven. I thought something had boiled over. When I opened the oven door, I saw the exploded lid half inside the casserole dish and the rest of the glass crumbles all over the inside of the oven. I felt someone should know what happened....

The product, in the report: Corning 1.5 qt baking dish

I recently purchased a Corning baking dish. The second time I used it, the dish broke in half in the oven. This is not a new complaint, I am hearing that it happens to the Corning baking dishes that are made in China. I have a 30 year old Corning dish made in the USA and it is still in tact. I did call the company, now called, World Kitchen@ 1800-999-3436 they are going to compensate me. These baking dishes should be recalled or a warning put on them, before someone gets hurt. Thank you for your attention in this matter. [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Corningware French White 1 1/2 quart oval stoneware

I was making a pork tenderloin using my Corningware French White 1 1/2 quart oval stoneware. I cooked it at 425 degrees, took it out of the oven, and put it on a trivot. As the dish was cooling, it cracked, leaving a massive crack, and leaving the dish unusable. This is my 2nd bakeware product from this company that has cracked/shattered in the past 6 months (I previously filed a complaint with the safety commission in September due to a separate, similar incident). This was actually a replacement dish.

The product, in the report: approximately 6”wide, and 2” deep and 11 inches long...clear glass.

Hi..was baking a roast pork in a shallow baking dish, made by Corning, which we’ve had for a few years. It was on the middle rack in the oven, set at 425 degrees according to the directions on the meat packaging, for the proper length of time, after only(40)minutes we heard a funny sound come from the kitchen, as we were in the next room. Went to investigate and saw that the dish had exploded in the oven, ruining the roast.Waited until everything cooled down , then proceeded to remove all the pieces and toss the pork in the trash. We are saving the broken dish for anyones inspection as we’ve read about others suffering the same type of event.Luckily, no one got hurt here, though we’d like a responce and or a replacement for not only the bakeware, but our lost dinner.

The product, in the report: Corning Ware Stove / Microwave Bowl with glass cover

We have an old CorningWare A-1 1/2 - 2 1.5 Liter stovetop/microwave bowl,7” wide by 6.5” long by 3” deep with a glass cover. We have used this for many years without a problem on both the stove and in the microwave.

Today while making popcorn (dry, no oil) in the microwave the glass cover suddenly shattered into many pieces. The shards included many very sharp pieces which is why I am contacting you. Though the bowl is very old, the sharp pieces are very dangerous if kids were around.

The product, in the report: Corningware Etch 1-1/2 Covered Casserole

We used a Corningware 1-1/2 Qt. Casserole Dish - a newer product called “Etch” . Have owned less than a year and the item has only been in the oven a few times. We filled it with room temperature ingredients - meatballs, can of mushroom soup and a small amount of sour cream. We had our oven preheated to 335 degrees. The item was in the oven for ONLY 20 minutes and the glass cover exploded spewing small glass shards throughout the oven and even out the bottom of the oven door. The remains of the glass cover imploded into the dish - the glass solid knob appeared to be intact. The bigger pieces of glass that went into the food mixture (inch approx in diameter) had a spider-web type crackle look. The hundreds of other pieces were in small bits. The casserole dish was warm on the bottom and the food contents of the dish were cool to the touch on the top. We were fortunate that no one suffered injury from the glass by opening the oven door at the time it exploded.

Our oven is only one year old- no problems with it or with temperature settings. We are now concerned about damage to oven because of exploding glass in it - we will be talking to the stove manufacturer.

We have contacted World Kitchens who makes the Corningware line - they asked that we call them to discuss. We did on 12/28. We have heard nothing from the company since then.
