The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Cooking Pot

Here’s an email I sent to the manufacture and never heard back. [REDACTED],

Yesterday I came home and noticed that my Belique Pot Lid was cracked in tons of pieces! Crazy. The even crazier part about this is nothing fell on it, no wind blew it over or anything. After some research I discovered,

Spontaneous glass fractures are due to the presence of nickel sulphide inclusions. The inclusions in a typical glass batch are rare. Nickel sulphide has a delayed phase transformation. Nickel sulphide has a high temperature and a low temperature form. In ordinary glass, nickel sulphide inclusions do not cause problems because the transformation occurs as the glass is cooled slowly during manufacture. However, the transformation is sluggish and when glass is rapidly cooled in the manufacturing process, the nickel sulphide remains trapped in its high temperature form until some years later when its transformation spontaneously breaks the glass.

I have enclosed photos. What you see inside the pot is glass and crumbs from cleaning up the broken glass everywhere.

Can you send me a new one?

    Thank you, [REDACTED],
