First aid Made Oct 6, 2026, sent to the company Oct 13, 2026, published by CPSC Oct 27, 2026
The product, in the report: Astercook 23 Pcs Pots and Pans Set Non Stick, Ceramic Cookware Set Detachable Handle, RV Kitchen Cooking Set Removable Handles, Oven Safe, Induction Ready, Stackable, Cream
On October 6, 2026, I was using an Astercook 23-piece cookware set with detachable/removable handles that had been purchased through Amazon.
I was using the cookware normally and had a pot containing boiling water. I attached the detachable handle to the pot and securely latched/locked the handle into place. When I picked up the pot, the detachable handle unexpectedly released from the pot.
The pot fell and the boiling water spilled onto me, causing burns to my buttocks and surrounding area. I also fell as a result of the incident.
In addition to the burns, I developed pain and swelling in my knee following the fall. I have previously had surgery on this knee, so the new pain and swelling are concerning. Due to the burns and knee symptoms, I may require evaluation and treatment at an urgent care center or emergency department.
I have video footage documenting the incident, photographs of my injuries, and photographs of the cookware. I have also preserved the actual pot and detachable handle involved in the incident in their current condition.
The cookware and detachable handle were being used for their intended purpose when the handle unexpectedly released. I am reporting this because I am concerned that failure of the detachable handle/locking mechanism while carrying hot or boiling contents presents a serious burn and scald hazard to consumers.

We got the new pots with the detachable handles if you click the button. We had boiled some ramen noodles and went to poor the water in the sink and out of no where the pot fell from the handle without any warning or hitting the button. This caused my 5 yr old daughter to get severely burned on about 10% of her body especially her back/side, leg, hand
