Made Feb 18, 2022, sent to the company Mar 10, 2022, published by CPSC Mar 24, 2022

The product, in the report: Deep-Frying Pan

The consumer indicates that she unboxed her deep-frying pan, washed it, and set it on the oven range at low temperature with a little bit of oil. The consumer placed some hush puppies on the wire basket that comes with the unit and these were approximately one to two inches away from the oil. Approximately eight minutes later, the pan caught fire and flames rose. The consumer’s husband picked up the pan and placed on the dry kitchen sink. Because the flames kept rising, the consumer’s husband picked up the pan and ran outside with it and banged it on the ground. Eventually the flames ceased however white smoke was all around the consumer’s home for some time after.

The consumer contacted the retailer and explained the situation; a representative informed her they could refund her the warranty plus a partial credit off the price f the unit.

The consumer is unsure if she will keep her pan for at least the next thirty days.
