The product, in the report: 5 inch cast iron frying pan. Imported. China. Possibly known as IWGAC-Old Mountain.
Old Mountain cast iron frying pan appears to have either a screw (top) or a metal washer embedded in the cast iron. I needed to reseason when my hubby let it air dry (it rusted). Cleaned it with SOS soap pad, oiled and baked for 1 hour. This is how cast iron pans are typically re-seasoned. When I took it out of the oven, I noticed a metal washer embedded in the cast iron. What freaks me out is how this scrap metal didn’t melt during processing. What is it made of? Also, what would have happened if it dislodged and became mixed in with my food! I have pictures of this! I have included a picture of the embedded washer. Old Mountain cast iron should be recalled or not imported. This is dangerous.
