The product, in the report: Cookware
Caller stated while the frying pan was in use, the top of the bolt that hold the handle exploded and became a projectile which could have caused serious injuries if someone was close by. Caller stated that they tried to contact the manufacturer on their website but was sent to the retailer. The retailer was not interested in the safety of the unit. Caller feels that the product poses a safety hazard and should be reported.
On April 22, 2026, at 5:05 pm I was cooking vegetables in our Martha Stewart Castelle Stainless Steel Induction Safe Non Toxic Kitchen frying Pan - gold handle, on medium heat, I heard a deafening “Barn” sound, like a gun shot, heard something hit the back of the stove, then saw the “rivet” fly across the room onto the floor. It was the Rivet that holds the handle onto the pan. I am so thankful my granddaughter was not sitting there in her highchair!!!! I am very concerned for the safety design of these pans! Please have this design inspected by quality control. I do not want this to happen to anyone else. The results could have been catastrophic! I have attached pictures of the purchase of the pans through Amazon. They were a gift to me in October of 2024. I did not use them for approximately the first 4 months, so they have been used for approximately 1 year. I have also attached pictures of the pan and the rivet that blew off across the room. I have the pans set aside if you would like to review these for safety reasons. Please look into the cause of this so it doesn’t happen to anyone else and causes serious injury! We may be reached at [REDACTED]

No one hurt Made Dec 29, 2023, sent to the company Jan 4, 2024, published by CPSC Jan 22, 2024
The product, in the report: Martha Stewart enamel coated cast iron cookware. Size: 2 quart, but we own several of the same and different sized. Color: grey and blue.
While browning butter in a 2 quart saucepan, we heard a loud “pop” sound. We then noticed a large chunk of the white enamel coating had dislodged from the cast iron. Fortunately it did not cause serious injury at that time—however hot oil from the butter was splashed on hands, arms, and toward the face when the enamel dislodged.
This same recall issue occurred in an earlier version of this same product and sparked a recall.

The product, in the report: Martha Stewart Cast Iron Dutch Oven - 5.5 quart round Cobalt
I received Martha Stewart Cast Iron Dutch oven (5.5 qt and 7 qt) as a wedding present. They were in a linen closet for a while and I never used them. I recently remodeled my kitchen and finally have room for them and began using them. After using the 5qt 2 times for pasta, the enamel began to crack on the bottom and chip off of the side. The bottom of the pan got dangerously hot and took almost an hour to cool down enough to clean.

The product, in the report: Martha Steward Dutch Oven 7.5 quarts .. color Red
I have a Martha Stewart 7.5 quart red dutch oven that I used quite frequently. Recently, without knowing there was a recall, i was using it to cook dinner and the enamel popped off and flew up into my hair, face, and all over the top of the stove and counter. It also flew off into the food i was preparing which then I had to discard into the garbage because there were so many pieces of enamel in it and was not safe.
I would like a full refund of this item. It cost me between $75 and $100 (I am not sure as it was some years ago).
I have tried to contact Macys to no avail they will not honor my messages.

The product, in the report: 8 in frying pan Martha Stewart Collection exclusively for Macy’s HF 10813
I was pan frying steak and suddenly there was a loud pop—the cover to a rivet attaching the frying pan’s handle separated and flew off. Luckily it missed my daughter and me—but it was both sharp and burning hot, so pretty scary!
I checked the bottom of the pan—it’s Martha Stewart, so I [REDACTED] it and discovered on your site that these frying pans were recalled for this very reason!

First aid Made Jul 11, 2018, sent to the company Jul 19, 2018, published by CPSC Aug 9, 2018
The product, in the report: Red Martha Stewart Dutch oven.
After cooking rice in the Martha Stewart dutch oven, I noticed two black spots in the bottom that were not there before. Since there was water in the bottom as I was preparing to wash it, when I wiped the bottom of the kettle, it lacerated two fingers.
The cut could have been more severe if I did not have a rag in my hand. The cut was just short of needing to seek medical attention. I bandaged both fingers and could not use that hand for much for a few days.
I thought this was very odd, so I did the search for recalls and found recall #11-308. The dates of purchase and product are included in the recall, so I am seeking a full refund for this product.

The product, in the report: 10” frying pan from Martha Stewart Stainless Steel Cookware, purchased from Macy’s
I was cooking onions on a 10” skillet over medium heat, and all of the sudden there was an explosion that sparked and sounded like a gunshot – incredibly loud and jarring, causing my husband and I to hustle out of the kitchen. When it seemed nothing else was exploding, we came closer and discovered a metal disc from the frying pan had exploded itself off where the handle connects to the pan. We went online to see if anyone had similar issues and discovered there was a product recall for the set of Martha Stewart Stainless Cookware. YIKES.

The product, in the report: Martha Stewart CollectionTM 10-piece Stainless Steel Cookware Set
When using one of the sauce pots from the cookware set (boiling water on stove top), there was a loud bang and one of the small metal rivets shot off. I see there is a recall for the frying pans from the cookware set for the same issue, but no recall yet for the pots. Not sure why this is, since they both look to be made the same way with with the same metal rivets. Seems like that last recall was dangerously narrow.

The product, in the report: 3 quart saucepan
I recently purchased a pot and pan set at the military exchange on Fort Hood Texas. The set is from the “Martha Stewart Collection” and is labeled “Exclusively for Macy’s.” The 3 quart sauce pan while being used on an electric burner stove, over medium high heat to boil water suddenly cracked along the rim of the saucepan before the water even began to boil. The pot was over half full of tap water. After removing the pan from the stove a second crack appeared. Both cracks are along the rolled rim and extend downward for approximately one half of an inch. This pan, as well as others from this set are no longer being used out of concern of failure causing leaking of contents or creation of a further sharp edge that can be hazardous during use or cleaning. The pan in question was not dropped or otherwise damaged in any way.
I contacted the place of purchase for return and was instructed to contact the manufacture which has proved unsuccessful.
Poor customer service is bad enough however, I am more worried of a potential hazard to others using this same pot and pan. I have taken several macro photos of the cracks and have retained the pot. If this is a systemic issue I feel others should be warned of this defect.

The product, in the report: Large 6 quart enamel coated cast iron Dutch Oven
This is a large cast iron dutch oven. I noticed that it had large pieces of enamel missing on the sides of the pot and two small through and through cracks on the rim and down the side of the pan. I found pieces of enamel on the floor. I thought maybe the pot had fallen to the ground and broken. I later saw that this was a defect in the product and a safety hazard. I did not notice this during cooking and my husband cleaned up and would not have mentioned the broken enamel. I was very disappointed, but assumed someone had dropped the pot.

The product, in the report: 6 Qt. Martha Stewart Collection Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven Made for Macy’s by Martha Stewart - China
I put a 1 lb. bag of Great Northern beans and 2 quarts of chicken stock in the pot; turned the heat to medium, watched it heat to just below simmer, walked into the living room and within a couple minutes, it projected completely off the stove, hitting the floor with beans and chicken stock all over my kitchen (what a nightmare). This pot, by the way, weighs 14 lbs. If I had been standing there, it surely would have shattered my foot.
I read online that there had been a recall of Martha Stewart Collection Enamel Cast Iron Casseroles due to Laceration and Burn Hazard. When I called Macy’s, I first spoke to the salesman telling him what happened and told him about the recall but he said that these were from a different manufacturer. I said you must take these off the shelf before somebody is injured and he said he could not do that so I asked for a manager at which time I spoke to [REDACTED]. He also said he could not pull from the shelf. I thought it incredulous that a “manager could not make a decision for safety reasons” to pull an item off the shelf at least until they investigated further. He offered me a refund.
I lost all the food I had prepped for this dish I was making and my kitchen rug plus spent about 2 hours cleaning up the mess but the good news is that I wasn’t standing in front of the stove when this happened. I hope this does not happen to anyone else.
