The product, in the report: RIO CERAMIC NONSTICK 7”, 9.5” AND 11” FRYPAN SET | TURQUOISE In a dreamy turquoise hue, this 3-piece frypan set is perfect for a huge array of kitchen tasks, from early morning eggs to late-night snacks. The heavy-duty construction delivers quick and even heating, while the stay-cool Bakelite handles give you a safe and secure grip.

I was gifted this set of 3 pans from Green Pan (https://www.greenpan.us/products/rio-ceramic-nonstick-7-9-and-11-frypan-set-turquoise?variant=45363106218152&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwl4yyBhAgEiwADSEjeJ-FyW_rvqJhjbZYevQs1AJy_QFANL9uTQVFPSUIa3r2UkjSTlL2RhoC-XoQAvD_BwE) and had been using them for a bit and was turned off by the smell that seemed to keep coming from them when I was cooking on them. Finally I realized the smell was because the handle was burning every time I used them because the metal piece that is supposed to prevent this is not nearly large enough and the handle is some sort of plastic/composite and melts if it is even in the vicinity of the flame from the gas burner- it does not have to be in direct contact with the flame. I contacted Green Pan about the issue and they blamed flare ups from my gas stove, which is not happening, or using a small pan on a large burner, which I am not doing. They also told me the smell was minor and called it merely ‘discoloration’ and said the pan was still safe, but clearly it is not just a change in color but is fully melting, and the smell is so strong that it fills my whole main floor and lingers for hours. I am afraid of the fumes that could be released into the air around my toddler, and clearly the integrity of the pan is being compromised.

The product, in the report: The product is a saucepan. The official name is GreenPan™ Canterbury Nonstick 3 qt. Hard-Anodized Aluminum Covered Saucepan. It is black with a glass lid and metal handles for the pan and the lid. It can be found here: https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/greenpan-canterbury-nonstick-3-qt-hard-anodized-aluminum-covered-saucepan/5565971

I recently purchased and used the GreenPan Canterbury Nonstick 3 qt. Hard-Anodized Aluminum Covered Saucepan. Cooking with the lid on, the lid handle gets scalding hot and burned my hand only after a few minutes of it being on the stove. The lid handle is made of only metal touching the glass, with no heat protection on it at all. I am testing it with a thermometer thereafter and the lid handle is getting to 130 degrees and above. I went on [REDACTED] and reviewed other product reviews that are complaining about the same issue--many complaints about this.

The product, in the report: Greenpan Smartshape non-stick frypan 9.5 inches. There are other models with the same handle design

I was cooking with the Greenpan Smartshape 9.5 in Non-Stick Frypan in my home kitchen on an electric radiant cooktop. I picked up the pan using the “stay-cool” grip and adjust my grip slightly forward to gain better control where my index finger contacted the metal portion of the handle connection to the pan, this resulted in a second degree burn to a portion of my index finger. The handle design does not have a “stop” or other shape that would prevent the users hand from sliding between the safe to hold section and the pan attachment that gets very hot. The reviews section for this product on Amazon contain other reports of this same injury.

The product, in the report: Green Pan Rio Ceramic Nonstick 8” and 10” Frypan Set, Turquoise purchased at Target in Augusta, Maine in late spring 2021 Model Rio Ceramic nonstick frypan set 8” and 10”

Purchased a Green Pan skillet. Smelled something that I thought was off-gassing at first. Then I realized the metal between the pan and the plastic handle is too short and the handle was getting burned/melting while in routine use. Filed a review on both the Green Pan site and [REDACTED]. Both were removed for “unsuitable content.” Apparently being honest, praising what was good and pointing out a fatal flaw that could lead to home fires was unsuitable. I have copies of the Green Pan response and my Chat messages with [REDACTED]. My reviews were removed and never received any follow up. From the wording, I suspect that the Green Pan company is policing/editing/removing reviews on [REDACTED]. I also have photos of the damage to the pans which I submitted and were also deleted.

The product, in the report: Green Pan SmartShape [REDACTED] frying pans

I burned my hands on the handle of these pans three times in the first three weeks i had them. Twice the burns were pretty bad. The pans are Green Pan SmartShape ([REDACTED]). The issue with these pans is the part of the handle that’s safe to touch is the same color and sheen as the part of the handle that gets very hot and there is no obvious indication that the pan handle is sectioned when casually glancing at it.

The product, in the report: Greenpan slimlite Dutch oven

I received a greenpan Dutch oven for a wedding gift. I used it in the oven for the first time and it was so hot it went through my oven mitt and it was so hot I dropped it and I ended up throwing it away because of it burning myself and breaking.

The product, in the report: 5 QT / 4.7 L Saute Pan

I just complained to www.greenpan.us concerning the safety of their 5 QT / 4.7 L SAUTE PAN. After purchasing the product at Target Store/Merced I read through the ‘Care and Use’ booklet that came with the product. I cooked with the pan and the pan cooks very well. Upon washing the pan my hand slipped off the washing towel and the rim of the pan cut me. I inspected the rim of the pan and deduced it was similar to stainless steel, coated with something, but the rim was sharp edged in the entire circumference. This incident has never occurred to me before. I checked the booklet to see if I may have missed a ‘warning’ concerning this hazard but the company had not addressed the possibility. So here I am blowing the whistle simply because the cut did smart and bringing it to your attention so others may not suffer. Thanks, [REDACTED]
