The product, in the report: 1-qt. Ecolution brand saucepan

While heating soup in a 1-qt. Ecolution brand stainless steel saucepan (item #ESTL-2814), I burned my hand while holding the saucepan handle. The saucepan has a design flaw in that it does not have an insulator between the handle and the saucepan to prevent heat transfer from the saucepan through the handle. The product, in the report: Pure Intentions Stainless Steel 2 Qt. Saucepan with Glass lid

    Dear [REDACTED],

    September 23, 2016

I am writing this letter to inform you about the potential danger of one of your products. The item in question is The Pure Intentions Stainless Steel 2 Qt. Saucepan with Glass lid.

On Saturday, September 17, 2016 my mother was cooking some peas in the saucepan, when we heard a loud noise, which sounded like a gun shot. I was sitting in the kitchen when it happened. My mother and I took the saucepan off of the burner and looked it over in an effort to determine what happened. Everything looked fine and now the noise was a “mystery”.

On Sunday, September 18, 2016 my mother was eating some of the peas she had cooked in the saucepan the day before and found a small round metal object in the peas. We then began speculating what the object was and where it came from. We then thought about the saucepan that she cooked the peas in and the “mystery” was solved. The object came from inside of the saucepan. It was one of the two attachments that holds the handle on.

My mother has cooked peas and other items in this saucepan many times before and everything was fine. We were very fortunate that the glass lid didn’t break and that my mother wasn’t standing over it, if it had. Second, the object could have been hidden under the peas and she could have swallowed it and that could have caused some major health issues. I’m so glad my mother was watching what she was eating and saw it before it ended up in her mouth.

Needless to say, we have discontinued use of this saucepan. At this point I’m not sure of the date the saucepan was purchased, however I do know it was purchased since we have been living in [REDACTED]. We have been in [REDACTED]. almost three years. I’m also pretty certain we purchased it from Macys. I’m in the process of finding the receipt, but wanted to let you know about this immediately.

For your reference, I have attached pictures of the saucepan, the object and where it came from. Also, for your information this object is similar if not identical to the metal disc on the “[REDACTED]” that was recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission on December 29, 2015.

[REDACTED], Thank you for your attention to this matter and if you have any questions or require additional information I can be reached on [REDACTED] or the address noted above. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
