The product, in the report: Duncan Hines Mega Cookie chocolate chunk mix
I bought a Duncan Hines Mega Cookies chocolate chunk mix from HEB store and followed the instructions mixing it. I put it in the baking pan that came with the mixture. While baking in the oven and after 15 minutes at 350F, it burst out into 5 to 6 inch flames all around this pan. It was still supposed to bake for another 5 minutes. I had a hard time to get the flames down. My whole house was filled with smoke.

The product, in the report: Duncan Hines Saucepan - part of a set of Duncan Hines Stainless Steel cookware. The cookware is stamped with this identifying information: Duncan Hines, STAINLESS STEEL COOWARE, 3-ply, 18-8, REGALWARE INC.-LICENSEE
The consumer stated that her saucepan is unsafe. The saucepan is part of a set of Duncan Hines stainless steel cookware purchased in the 1990’s. The consumer had boiled potatoes in the saucepan on her stove, removed the pot from the stove and placed it on the counter. When she again used the handle of the pot to turn the pot without lifting it, the handle came off in her hand. The screw holding the handle had completely rusted through. She inspected her other Duncan Hines cookware and found all of the screws to be rusty.
The consumer contacted the manufacturer via email on November 2nd. The firm responded on November 3rd and asked that the consumer send the unit to the firm so that it could be inspected. They indicated that they would repair or replace units according to the warranty and that she should include a check or money order to cover shipping and handling.
The consumer responded to the firm on November 4th since she felt that the firm did not address her safety concern. In their subsequent response, they described the problem as being that the handles became brittle with age, misunderstanding her concern. After she wrote again, the firm responded back to her on November 6th stating that in order to further investigate the matter, they would need to see the item in question, including the handle, screw, washer, and protector.
The consumer has not contacted the retailer and the consumer was not harmed or injured by the product. The consumer stated this incident caused no property damage. The consumer’s husband fixed the saucepan on his own and has not sent the saucepan back to the firm. The consumer found similar complaints online.
