First aid Made Apr 20, 2026, sent to the company Apr 23, 2026, published by CPSC May 7, 2026
The product, in the report: Carote 9-piece nonstick cookware set (taupe color), including frying pans, saucepan, and pot with lids. Purchased from Target in Anaheim, California. The cookware is marketed as nonstick and safe for everyday cooking use.
Hello, I am writing to report a serious safety issue with the Carote 9-piece nonstick cookware set (taupe) that I recently purchased from Target in Anaheim, CA. While using the cookware under normal cooking conditions, we noticed that smoke was coming out of the handles. This is extremely concerning and does not seem safe or normal for cookware use. More importantly, this defect resulted in a burn injury. My mother burned her hand while handling one of the pans, which raises major concerns about the safety and quality of this product. We have since returned the set to Target, but I felt it was important to report this directly to your company because this could potentially harm other customers. This appears to be a manufacturing or material defect, especially since the issue is coming from the handles themselves. Cookware should never emit smoke from non-cooking areas or pose a burn risk beyond normal use. I also have video evidence showing the smoke coming from the handles, which I am happy to provide if needed. Please take this matter seriously and investigate immediately. I would appreciate a response regarding: * Whether this is a known issue * What safety actions will be taken * If there are recalls or warnings related to this product Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. Sincerely, [REDACTED]

While I (69 yr old experienced adult female) was cooking potatoes, onions and carrots on medium heat in a deep pot made by Carote Cookware the lid exploded shattering glass into the food and onto the floor. The cookware set was purchased from Walmart on 12/2/2025.

First aid Made Mar 6, 2025, sent to the company Mar 10, 2025, published by CPSC Mar 24, 2025
The product, in the report: Carote 7 Piece Cookware set - Toupe Granite, 3 pans, 2 pots with lids, non-stick. Frankfurt Collection. Purchased via Walmart.com.
When using the Carote frying pan set, I burned my finger when grabbing the handle of the pan. I found that the most likely cause was as follows: The handle is attached by the consumer after purchasing by using a metal screw that connects the handle to the pan. This metal screw (or possibly the screw hole) appeared to direct heat from the pan to the bottom portion of the handle causing the bottom are of the handle to become intensely hot. I believe this to be a design flaw, that could cause serious injury.
