No one hurt Made Dec 16, 2016, sent to the company Mar 30, 2017, published by CPSC Apr 13, 2017
The product, in the report: Belgique Cookware What is on the bottom of these pots is the following: “Tools of the Trade; BELGIQUE; stainless steel; w/silcone handles; encapsulated impact; bonded induction base; 1 qt; (Pot 1)31189; (Pot 2)30999(Pot 3)31189”.
My wife and I purchased a Iarge set of Belgique cookware at Macy’s on 1/30/2010. The cookware’s identification number is 636189980453. The purchase price was $84.99. Our receipt indicates that there was a Total Savings of $168.00, but we are unaware what that means. On 11-4-16, my wife went to lift out a saucepan from the dishwasher and the pot fell off the handle. The rivets that held the handle onto the pot had disappeared. We looked at two other pot handles and the rivets had fallen off of them. With the slightest pressure, the handles also fell off of them. We do not know what happened to the rivets. The cookware set is advertised as dishwasher safe. The rivets look as if they are mode from cheap metal. We see this as a consumer hazard. If someone were to have a boiling pot of water and the handle fell off, there could be serious consequences; not only to the handler, but to a toddler that may beside his or her mother. We brought the three pots back to Macy’s today, on 11-7-16. We said that we were not interested in any monetary settlement. We said that we wanted Macy’s to recall this product. At first they said that they would refund us the price of the three pots, but then a 30 year employee of Macy’ s brought the situation to her manager. The manager said that if we brought the entire set back they would refund us our money in full. But that is not the issue. We do not want one cent. What we want is for Macy’s to recall this cookware because it is a consumer threat. We have the entire set of cookware, including the three pots and the handles that separated from them. Is there any way that the rivets on the other pots can be analyzed? Is this on across-the-board threat to the consumer? We will send the entire set to you or do anything that will help you to determine if and when a recall by Macy’ s of this cookware should occur. We are not interested in a monetary resolution. Our focus is to make certain that other consumers are not put at risk by the failing rivets. Macy’s is still selling this Belgique cookware.

Hurt, no treatment Made Jun 13, 2012, sent to the company Jun 21, 2012, published by CPSC Jul 6, 2012
The product, in the report: Belgique Skillet Set - Hard Anodized with Silicone Handles 10” & 12” #30209
My wife and I got a gift certificate for Macy’s as a wedding gift. Sometime late 2010 or early 2011 we use the certificate to purchase a set of Belgique cookware. When we purchased the set we had a bit of money left over and got the 2 pack set of Hard Anodized with Silicone Handles 10” & 12” skillets. The stock number on both pans is #30209. For the first year or so they were fine and worked very well but over time the silicone and the metal in the handle has evidently separated allowing water into the handle when the skillet is washed. It does not matter whether it is in the dishwasher or in the sink, it allows water in. When the skillet is placed on the stove the water trapped in the handle turns to steam. The handle becomes scalding hot and will burn you. My wife filled in the online complaint form on the Belgique website around 6 months ago and got no response from them. I got a pretty bad burn (no blistering but redness and tenderness) early last week and decided to call Macy’s about the problem last Thursday because I could no longer find the Belgique website online. I asked the customer service representative for the contact information for Belgique and rather than supplying the information that I asked for, she began to ask questions. I was fine with this. She informed me that she would check with the buyer to see if there were problems with the cookware and call me back that afternoon with instructions on what to do to get replacement cookware. This is Wednesday of the following week and I have heard nothing from the lady in customer service so I called again and asked to speak with her. I was put through to another agent and was told she was on the phone but would call me back shortly. No word of course and it has been over an hour.

No one hurt Made May 29, 2012, sent to the company Jun 6, 2012, published by CPSC Jun 20, 2012
The product, in the report: Belgique 11” non stick fry pan with a steel handle with a rubber inset under the handle. The handle is riveted to the pan. The pan itself is a dark charcoal color.
Several years ago I purchased a Belgique silicone frypan with stainless handle with a rubber grip. I have used this for years as my favorite pan. Nothing sticks and the heat is very even. All of a sudden last week, I almost got a severe burn on my hand as I gripped the handle. This had never happened before so I was not prepared for such a hot handle. It even gets too hot now through a hotpad. How can that happen so suddenly when I’ve used it for years without a problem? I still use the pan, but have to keep a heavy hot pad over the handle at all times so I don’t forget that it gets so hot IT WILL BURN YOUR HAND IF YOU DON’T LET GO! Is there some way to get a replacement as I’m afraid someone will really get hurt.

The product, in the report: every belgique pan i own that is stamped tools of the trade hard anodized, with silicone handle on the bottom. Serial number off one pan is 30899
Numerous times i have used my Belgique Hard anodized w/silicon handle 30899 pan and other ones from this line and have gotten burns on my hands but not too severe but enough to make me throw the pan down.
