The product, in the report: Glass carafe for the Mr. Coffee coffee maker Model BVMC-MMX26 UPC 2201933008755
The glass carafe on our newly purchased Mr. Coffee 12 cup coffee maker broke while I was drying it. We have the carafes from three previous Mr. Coffee makers. None of those broke. The new carafes are thinner than the old model carafes. In addition the new carafes have an open handle that puts increased stress on the rim of the carafe. While I was uninjured I saw how easily I could have seriously cut my hand.

The product, in the report: Mr. Coffee 12-Cup Coffeemaker BVMC-SC12BL1 Black (comes in white, too) Model BVMC-SC12BL1
Mr. Coffee 12-cup coffee maker has a glass carafe that broke the first day of normal use. It appears the carafe design or glass used is defective. The handle has a small plastic clip inside the top lip of the glass carafe. The glass seems to be too weak to support the weight of 10-12 cups of coffee, and a triangular section of the glass snapped in the area surrounding the handle clip. Reviews of this product from the past month (plus my own) on the Target.com website indicate 11 instances of the glass carafe failing prematurely and in some cases shattering. Fortunately I discovered the broken wedge of glass before the handle caused it to separate from the pot, so no injuries, but if it had contained a full pot of 200-degree coffee, I worry what could have happened.

Hurt, no treatment Made Jan 12, 2020, sent to the company Feb 4, 2020, published by CPSC Feb 19, 2020
The product, in the report: It’s actually a 5 cup, not a 4 cup Mr. Coffee as I previously said and it had a stainless steel pot.
I purchased on line a Mr. Coffee 4 cup coffee pot, model number JWX9 with a metal decanter. I really like the coffee pot and after many brewed pots, I noticed that the inside of the pot needed to be cleaned out due to staining. I did a dumb thing by using a dish cloth and attempted to reach inside the decanter to clean it when I sustained a deep cut to the base of my index finger. I thought I may need sutures but with steri strips to hold the wound together and lots of bandages, my wound healed in about two weeks. My concern is that the top rim of the coffee pot is very sharp, as I found out and the maker of this model should make the rim rolled and smooth so as not to cause injury to anyone else. I did notify via email the incident to Mr. Coffee customer service and my email was acknowledged but no further action was taken. Thank you, Sincerely, [REDACTED]

First aid Made May 10, 2018, sent to the company May 18, 2018, published by CPSC Jun 4, 2018
The product, in the report: Coffee maker
We bought a Mr Coffee coffeemaker in July/Aug 2016 at Kroger in Columbus Ohio.
It has sat on the kitchen counter used about once a day since then. Never fallen off the counter or had anything weird happen. Only used it to make regular black coffee with grounds from the store. Kept it reasonably clean.
Today I made a couple cups of coffee in the afternoon. A couple hours later I heard the coffee maker making noises like it was still turned on. The little green light on the on/off button was not on, though. So I touched the button the way you would to turn it off, just to check.
Sparks flew out of the button area in my face and up my arm-- my husband saw the light from around the corner. Not a couple of sparks. A ton, like a welder.
It tripped the circuit, too. We unplugged it and contacted the company who has asked me to ship them the faulty machine. But I think you should know, too.
This was a relatively new kitchen electronic, used as designed, and it electrocuted me when touching the on/off switch. Seems like a pretty bad flaw in a coffee maker.
The model number is SK13 and the numbers on the plug were DG and H224. I don’t know what that means but the company asked for it so maybe that’s helpful.

The product, in the report: French Press 4 cup coffee maker
11/21/15 The consumer made 4 cups of coffee (container was full) and while the consumer was pouring herself a cup the plastic black handle separated from the metal frame. 11/23/15 The consumer called Mr. Coffee and informed them about the incident. The consumer was advised by the Rep.
