The product, in the report: 1.5 quart, porcelain enamel, whistling tea kettle
The tea kettle has a minimum and a maximum fill line. Regardless of how much water was poured into the kettle, water spewed out it forcefully when it was poured. The consumer said that she could not figure why the water was dispensed so forcefully. The user could risk either getting burned or water could spew all over the counter.
The instructions for use suggested that the kettle came with a squeeze and pour handle.
The consumer said that she pours the water out of the tea kettle at night, but it took several months for her to figure out it contained rust. The consumer is unsure when she discovered the rust, but it may have been mid-year 2014.
Consumer has ingested rust and maybe black coating inside of tea kettle unknowingly
1/7/2015: The consumer called the manufacturer and explained her problems with the product. The rep. agreed to send the consumer a replacement with a different design. The rep. asked the consumer if she could send this one back to them so that they could analyze it and the consumer agreed.
Please see addendum as to what didn’t happen!
The consumer said that she has burned her hand while using this kettle. The consumer used burn cream for her injuries. The consumer said that she burned her hands multiple times. The consumer said that the cream made her hand feel better in a day or so, but she had to apply a bandage and it actually took several days for her burn to heal.
[REDACTED] Addendum to report #20150108-D3755-1461149
Jan 30, 2015 consumer didn’t receive new stainless steel tea kettle as promised. She called and was told the company doesn’t have any. Consumer asked “why didn’t anyone from the company call to tell her that”. On 1/7/2015 they promised it 10-14 days . The Rep stated their “backup”. Consumer at this point requested a cash refund. The rep agreed but it’s going to take 6-8 weeks. Seeing is believing. The rep never requested the old tea kettle back to analyze it so nobody else gets burned. The company original was suppose to send her prepaid postage and instruction. Thank you {Redacted]
