The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: “Cotton Oven Mitt and Pot Holder - Threshold” from Target (bought at Asheville, NC location) Color: “Oranges” 100% cotton “Padded design helps protect your hands from heat or burns STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified OEKO-TEX Certification Number: 16.HIN.96198” - from website description

I bought a new oven mitt / pot holder and used for the first time a couple nights ago to take a cast iron skillet out of the oven. The cast iron skillet had been in the oven for around 15 minutes at 400 degrees F. I had used that cast iron in the oven many times with other mitts and no problems. When I pulled the skillet out using this new oven mitt, the cast iron burned my hand through the mitt, leaving me with a second degree burn.
