The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Apr 16, 2015, sent to the company Apr 24, 2015, published by CPSC May 15, 2015

The product, in the report: Magic Glove with Non-Slip Silicone Grip Hot surface handler Glove weight 4.0 oz. Great for kitchen, BBQ and handling of dry hot items up to 480 degrees. White knit with blue plastic dots and Magic Glove. For left or right hand. item number on the box #50738

I was given Magic Glove as a gift. On the manufacturer’s box it said “Withstands extreme heat up to 480 degrees F”, “The box Includes: 1pc Magic Glove with Non Slip Silicone Grip”, “Made in China”, “Tekno Products Inc. Rutherford, NJ 07070”. I used them for the first time yesterday to pull a cookie sheet out of my oven. The oven was set for 350 degrees. The plastic “silicone grip” melted to the cookie sheet and started smoking. I was able to scrape the plastic residue off the cookie sheet with a sharp knife. I consider them usable with hot items as described on their packaging and are a hazard to consumers.
