The product, in the report: Amazon Basics Silicone Mat ASIN B0725GYNG6 Item model number AOKE-1701
An Amazon Basics Silicone, Non-Stick, Food Safe Baking Mat was on a pan in an oven set to 425 for pre-heating. Within five minutes of starting the oven, we began to smell smoke from the oven. My brother, [REDACTED] opened the oven to find the Mat on fire. He removed the pan from the oven and ran it outside to our patio. He had a fire extinguisher with the pin pulled in case the fire continued outside and also to extinguish anything inside of the oven once the pan was removed.. The fire extinguished itself quickly, leaving a charred and almost sandy-looking mat. The oven was left with a chemical residue from the silicone mat; however, once the pan was removed, there was no additional fire risk. Thankfully, no one was injured by the fire.
