The product, in the report: 7404 S glass bowl, largest in a 4 pack sold by Costco

Pyrex bowl shattered, cutting my left hand, resulted in surgery. Pyrex 7404-S 20 BOWL. I was using the product to hold snack size candy. I reached up to where the bowl was stored, approx 1.8 meters, it slipped out of my hands and fell to the wood kitchen floor (shattering into a lot of pieces and shards) I have some pieces and shards, if someone would like to examine them. The majority was thrown away when the mess was cleaned up. Please contact me for photos of the shards and pieces (from under the refrigerator), that I found later. They are on my cell phone and I don’t have time to upload right now. The shards of glass lacerated my hands and ankles, resulting in surgery to remove 3 shards from under the skin of my left palm.

The largest size bowl of my Pyrex 8pc Mixing Bowl Set suddenly combusted/exploded on the kitchen counter. It wasn’t exposed to sudden temperature change. I had tossed a salad inside of it with silicone tongs and when I came back to empty the bowl out 45 minutes later, it combusted without me touching it.

The product, in the report: The largest of the Pyrex Smart Essentials Mixing Bowl Set. Four clear glass Pyrex nested mixing bowls with lids. item number 1086053

I was in my dining room, which is adjacent to my kitchen, when I heard what sounded like an explosion in my kitchen. I looked into my kitchen and saw large shards of a glass Pyrex bowl on my kitchen counter top beneath the cabinet my bowls were stored in. I opened the cabinet, and the larger of my nesting set of Pyrex bowls (Pyrex Smart Essentials with lids) had apparently exploded. It had been in the cabinet, along with the other bowls with it, for at least several days so this wasn’t a sudden temperature change related issue. The bowl is one of a set of four Pyrex bowls I purchased within the last year from Kohls. They came as a boxed set with lids. I purchased three of these sets, one for each of my sons, and one for myself. Had I been near it when this happened, I could have had a piece of glass explode into one of my eyes. There were bits of glass all inside the cabinet and the force of the explosion was strong enough to open my cabinet doors. Since I was not near the cabinets, I was not immediately injured. However, I did get several shards of glass in my fingers while trying to carefully clean up the broken glass. These bowls are extremely dangerous and need to be recalled.

The product, in the report: clear glass pyrex 4 quart mixing bowl

We were mixing raw salmon and pre-cooked vegetables in a 4 quart Pyrex mixing bowl. The veggies and salmon had been mixed well together to make salmon cakes. It was at least ten minutes after any temperature changes had been made in the bowl and the bowl had not been touched in at least 3 minutes and the bowl untouched exploded on the counter top. The food was ruined and glass went everywhere. The explosion was very loud. Glass flew 8 ft.

The product, in the report: Clear glass bowl with ridges going up side of bowl. 10Cup size

The product being used was a class Pyrex 10 cup bowl. I had baked mac and cheese in the bowl 2 days prior. After the dish was completely cooled it was stored in the fridge. Once the bowl was emptied it was filled with water to soak. I emptied the water out of the bowl and holding the glass bowl with one hand, I began to clean it with a scotchbrite pad with the other hand. I believe the bowl exploded in my hand at this time. I suffered a significant wound to the palm of my hand, which required 9 stitches and appear to be leaving a nasty scar. I also had several scratches from flying class pieces on my forearms. The doctor that saw me in the urgent care center even questioned how the scratches got on my arms from the bowl in my hand. I am in shock that a bowl can just explode this way.

  9. No one hurt

The product, in the report: Pyrex 1.75 glass container

Product: Pyrex 1.75 qt. glass container that comes with a plastic lid. Product is routinely placed atop/inside a shallow 9 x 13 glass casserole dish inside a pantry cabinet for storage. I had not used this container for a week or so. Two days ago, long after we had gone to bed, my husband heard a loud noise from the kitchen. He got up to investigate, but saw nothing. The next morning, upon opening the pantry, 8 trillion pieces of glass shards were scattered inside the pantry with concentration inside the 9 x 13 casserole dish.

Safety issue: this glass container spontaneously shattered overnight without anyone even using it at the time! So when I opened the pantry doors glass fell out on the floor near my bare feet! Please note that the temperature of the house was 75 degrees at all times during the night.

The product, in the report: Large blue Pyrex mixing bowl from a multi-size set

I was hand washing my large, blue Pyrex mixing bowl with hot tap water, dish soap and a scrub sponge when it shattered in my hand. I have cuts on two fingers, a couple scratches, and a small gash in the palm of my hand.

The product, in the report: Pyrex 8-cup measuring cup/mixing bowl. Bought for me by my mother online.

I used a new Pyrex mixing bowl to cook polenta in the microwave (corn meal, room temp water, salt). The bowl exploded into tiny shards all over my microwave, just moments before I was going to open the door to check on it. I cut myself several times cleaning up the shards and very sharp glass from all over the microwave. If it’d opened the door a moment sooner, it would have exploded all over me.
