  1. No one hurt

Made Jan 15, 2013, sent to the company Jan 25, 2013, published by CPSC Feb 8, 2013

The product, in the report: “Shoopy Sno-cone Machine”. This is a toy used to shave ice cubes to make sno-cones. It is white plastic with red trim and shaped like Snoopy’s dog house. It has a hand crank that turns the metal ice cube compartment that is used in shaving the ice.

I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT THIS PRODUCT BE REMOVED FROM THE SHELVES ASAP.

My wife was using the hand cranked Snoopy Sno-cone Machine to make grandkids sno-cones. She had made the first sno-cone with 3 ice cubes and gently scooped the shaved ice out with the plastic spoon that comes with the machine. She then made my 2nd grandchild one and was watching them eat the sno-cones when she noticed a gold piece of metal inside the sno-cone that my 1st grandchild was eating. It was cylinder-shaped. It seems to be about 1/4 inch high and “ragged looking” around the rim as if it had been torn apart. She then noticed that it was one of the two rivets that are inside of the metal ice compartment. I can only speculate that the rivet was “chewed up” by the ice cubes as it shaving the ice cubes.

The machine was used on 5 prior days and made a total of 10 very small sno-cones on those occasions. We estimate it failed after shaving about 30 to 40 ice cubes since new.

The jagged metal edges on the torn-off rivet would make it very dangerous if swallowed!

I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT THIS PRODUCT BE REMOVED FROM THE SHELVES ASAP.

The product, in the report: The Original Snoopy Sno-Cone Machine Make a tasty treat with ice cubes and flavor pack. .50 oz Ages 4 to adult Model Number 18252

The Snoopy Sno Cone Machine was used according to directions. The product itself worked and shaved ice was made. While eating the shaved ice, I bit into what I thought was a hard piece of ice. I spit it out and found a metal eyelet from the shaving device in my hand. The metal eyelet is from the machine. There are two eyelets that hold the metal ice shaver to the plastic tube so the ice can be shaved. One of the eyelets came of during the shaving process and ended up in my shaved ice.
