The product, in the report: Storz & Bickel - Venty Dry Heb Hot Air Generator. Black in color, orange buttons, LCD screen. Product link: https://www.storz-bickel.com/en-us/venty
I own a $500 device called a “Venty” from Storz & Bickel. (https://www.storz-bickel.com/en-us/venty). This device is a “medical grade” hot air generator for vaporizing dry herbs. I’ve had the device since December of 2023. I was using the device on the night of March 19th, 2024. The Venty was powered on and the temperature was set to 180C. After approximately 90 seconds of the Venty sitting up right and powered on, I noticed a burning smell in the room. I looked over at the Venty and observed smoke coming from the vents on the side of the device. I quickly grabbed the device and pressed the orange power button the side to power it off. The device turned off but the whole unit was extremely hot to the touch to a point where I could not hold it in my hand. I removed the Venty from my home and allowed it cool off before inspecting further. After sufficient amount of time to cool, I unscrewed the top portion from the heater and here’s what I observed: The top piece was difficult to remove, I found that it was fused to the bottom piece due to the plastic melting from the overheating. Any dry herb in the device were burnt to ash. The plastic that holds the ceramic ring above the heater was completely melted and the ceramic ring above the heater was leaning and disformed. The O-ring was also deformed and discolored. A horrible smell was emitting from the device and permeating throughout house. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained but I am extremely worried that had I not acted quickly, I could have been injured by the Venty catching fire, melting, and / or causing damage to my property and home.
