No one hurt Made Jun 24, 2025, sent to the company Jan 16, 2026, published by CPSC Feb 6, 2026
The product, in the report: Metal and plastic, cherry, and olive pitter
(06/17/2025) The consumer’s wife was pitting cherries with the product, when it broke apart. This was the very first time that the product was used and they crushed a couple hundred cherries. Small pieces of metal detached from it. They reassembled the product and tried it again, and the same thing happened. There is the hinge point with a large flat washer or rivet in the center. Below that on the outboard side, is the locking latch, which is what separated. A person would press the part in or out, on one side or the other, to actuate the locking latch. The parts fell out on opposite sides on the same occasion. The product is still operative but cannot be locked. 6/22/2025: The consumer called the dealer and reported the issue to their representative. The rep. (name unavailable) said that they would contact the product manufacturer and give the consumers a refund. They are concerned that metal parts could end up people’s food, where others may experience the same exact issue.

Seen by a doctor or nurse Made Sep 25, 2016, sent to the company Oct 3, 2016, published by CPSC Oct 25, 2016
The product, in the report: Norpro Jelly Strainer Stand with bag
I was using the Norpro Jelly Strainer Stand to strain my grapes because I was canning grape jelly. I tried several bowls to set it on (it has 3 long metal legs that fit over the edge of the bowl) before finding one that seemed like the strainer was steady on. The box says the product can be used with different size bowls because the legs bend. I used a bowl similar to the one in the picture. As I was carefully ladling the boiling hot grape pulp in to the strainer, it slipped/tipped over onto my arm. I had to hold still, while the grapes were burning my arm, until my husband could grab it so that more of the boiling grapes didn’t pour down the front of me. I received 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree burns. I purchased this at my local Wilco Farm Store. Afterwards I looked up the reviews on [REDACTED] and saw that the wobbly legs are an ongoing problem. I contacted Norpro and they claim that this was the first time they had ever heard of a problem with this product.
