  1. No one hurt

Made Dec 22, 2014, sent to the company Jan 2, 2015, published by CPSC Jan 16, 2015

The product, in the report: Nomenclature: “Chef’n Garlic Zoom XL” Color: Yellow/greenish. Size: handheld Powered by: hand Composition: 95% plastic 5% metal Sold by “Chef’s Catalog” Sellers Item number: 25797 Web link: http://www.chefscatalog.com/product/25797-chef-n-garlic-zoom-chopper-xl.aspx Address: Chef’s Catalog 5070 Centennial Blvd. Colorado Springs, CO 80919 Map 719-272-2600

This product is a “garlic Mincer”. it is called the “Garlic Zoom”. It is available from “Chef’s Catalog”. http://www.chefscatalog.com/product/25797-chef-n-garlic-zoom-chopper-xl.aspx

After using the device, I opened up the lid and held it over the sauce and used my finger to wipe out the garlic pieces. I didn’t realize that the hinge on the lid had broken and scattered shards of very sharp and hard pieces of plastic into the sauce below.

The next day my girlfriend and I found the shards in our mouth as we were eating. We stopped eating of course. I have saved the remains of the dinner. I also still have the product and the two shards that we found. On the back of the product, you can easily see where the plastic had broken off.

I have alerted “Chef’s Catalog” about this device’s problem.
