No one hurt Made Sep 6, 2026, sent to the company Sep 24, 2026, published by CPSC Oct 16, 2026
The product, in the report: Clear plastic 12-inch microwave plate cover/splatter shield with magnets and ventilation holes. Designed to cover food and attach magnetically to the inside top of the microwave.
A HomeCraft microwave plate cover purchased from Walmart caught fire inside my microwave. My child accidentally started the microwave with nothing inside except the cover. After about two minutes, the cover ignited. We stopped the microwave quickly and no one was injured, but the inside of the microwave was damaged. I am reporting this because the product is marketed as microwave-safe and the fire created a serious safety hazard.
