The product, in the report: Glass hob cover with dots bought in Argos 842 / 8141
On Sunday 11th October 2015, after cooking sons dinner the glass hob cover exploded in the kitchen. The force was so bad that glass was thrown into the next room. One of the front hobs had been knocked and was on which heated the glass to the point of it exploding. When this happened my husband, 4 year old son and I were fortunately in the room next door and absolutely dread to think what could have happened if we had been in the kitchen. We are aware that the glass cover should not be in place when the hob on but we did not know the hob was switched on. The glass shattered into millions of pieces but they were mostly very sharp. If anyone was in the kitchen when this happened there is no doubt serious injury would have occurred. My first thought when it happened that a brick had been put through our window. I’m sure this will be a popular item and need to warn others of the risk of this happening to them. I’m still in shock and feel so lucky
