The product, in the report: Metal tongs, approximately 10 inches long. They are the type where you can close by pulling the tab on the bottom, however there are other styles with the same sharp edges!!! IMPORTANT: since my accident, I have been looking at all the tongs and 90% on the market are made like my tongs. Companies like [REDACTED] and Im sure there are others. PLEASE DO A RECALL and require the manufacturers redesign their product. (Note: do you want pics of my injured finger?????) its not pretty pics I can ensure you!!! HELP

While dish washing metal kitchen tongs, my index finger was sliced open because of the inside of the sharp (blade-like) opening on the inside of the tongs.

The product, in the report: Farberware Spatula (Turner) - Black solid nylon with built in rest. Chrome “Farberware” brand name insert in handle. Chrome rest on backside of turner. Approximately 12” long. Photos attached.

Farberware nylon spatula melts and deposits melted plastic pieces into food.

My Farberware nylon spatula, used regularly, apparently developed a melted plastic “ridge” on the leading edge of the spatula. This plastic “ridge” detached and ended up in the food item being cooked (scrambled eggs). The plastic piece painfully stabbed me inside my mouth.

Please note - the spatula was not left in the pan. It was only used to turn the food, then removed from the pan. Furthermore, the (electric) pan temperature is never turned above 350 degrees F.

The product, in the report: Faberware stove top pan cover for spatter prevention

We were using a relatively new spatter prevention screen on our stove and it burst into flames about 12 inches high. The screen is intended for use to cover pans to prevent spatter when cooking. We were using it to cover a pan in which we were cooking steak. Our stove is gas. We were able to extinguish the flame using water at the sink. If we had not seen the fire immediately, the house could have been on fire. The device is clearly not suitable for a gas stove and may not be suitable for any stove. After the fire we could see where the screen was melted that there is a layer of fabric between two layers of screen.

The product, in the report: Farberware Professional Lever Ice Cream Scoop

I got the “Farberware Professional Ice Cream Scoop” on October 16, 2014. I used it for the first time a few days later. Had no problem with the first use. The second use was on November 1, 2014. After scooping the ice cream from the container, I depressed the lever on the scoop to eject the ice cream. Two of the plastic gears in the eject mechanism broke/stripped off and fell out of the unit onto the kitchen counter.

After assessing the situation, I felt it necessary to discard the bowl of ice cream, concerned there may be other fragments of the plastic gears in it. It was chocolate chip ice cream, so the fragments would likely not have been very noticeable.

My concern is that this same situation could occur with others in the future, leaving plastic fragments in the food, potentially causing tooth damage or even choking. I used the product as any reasonable person would use an ice cream scoop…to scoop ice cream.

The phone contact number on the product packaging indicated that it was for “Residents of the state of California” only. I did not bother writing or emailing the Company.

The product, in the report: Farberware Ultrapro set of 4 magnetic measuring spoons. Color is red, it says ITEM NO. 5091826. The barcode is 0 24131 18475 0 and the walmart page that shows the item is at http://www.walmart.com/ip/Farberware-S-4-Magnetic-Measure-Spoons/20565291

The product is a set of four red plastic measuring spoons that stay together magnetically. The brand is Farberware, and they were bought at Wal-Mart. Each spoon has a small cylindrical magnet about 1/4 inch in diameter in the center. The magnet is not securely glued, and the magnet pops out easily and without warning. The magnet could get into food being prepared. No harm was done, but I thought it was a dangerous defect.

The product, in the report: Farberware Short Turner at Walmart. According to walmart.com, its model number is 83054-93. Shipping Weight (in pounds):14.0. Product in Inches (L x W x H):10.6 x 3.1 x 2.0

It is a Farberware Short Turner that you can find at any Walmart. It releases strong chemical odor when used for cooking and the smell gets into the food as well. Even after a week of daily use, the smell is still there. After a week of eating the food with smell of the turner, I experienced nausea, dizziness and fatigue. I bought a new spatula from another brand and those symptoms started to go away. It took me a few day to get rid of all those symptoms.
