The product, in the report: Hover Cover Magnetic Microwave Splatter Guard
Microwave food cover (Hover Cover) caught on fire. I was making instant oatmeal in a microwave-safe bowl and set the microwave for 90sec (supposedly safe up to 10min). Heard a crackling sound after ~30sec and discovered the food cover on fire. The origin of the fire appears to be one of the “microwave safe polymer encased magnets.”
Upon researching this product, it appears that I am far from being the only one who experienced a fire after using the product as directed. Frankly, it is disappointing that this product is still on the market after consumer complaints to retailers, the manufacturer, and government agencies.
