The product, in the report: Drinkmate OmniFizz Sparkling Water and Soda Maker, matte black and a Drinkmate 0.5 liter plastic bottle with an expiration date of 01/2026. Both were purchased June 29, 2023
This report is regarding a Drinkmate OmniFizz Sparkling Water and Soda Maker manufactured by iDrink Products, Michigan.
My wife was on our boat using the device per the instructions to carbonate water in a 0.5 liter plastic Drinkmate bottle. Upon the second activation of the carbonation button, the plastic bottle exploded, forcefully spraying water and plastic pieces throughout the area. My wife does not have any obvious injuries. However, the small, high-velocity plastic shrapnel could have easily caused serious injury.
iDrink Products/Drinkmate is aware of this injury risk. They have issued a self-recall of the defective bottles on their website. However, iDrink Products/Drinkmate failed to notify me of the recall despite my having purchased the product directly from them via Amazon.com and the company having my contact information.
